Odoo 18 Community Developer
Worldwide
**Odoo 18 Community Developer — U.S. Citizen Required** We are looking for a fast, detail-oriented Odoo developer to help maintain, improve, and test a production Odoo 18 Community Edition environment. This is not a simple module-installation role. You will work across a multi-company, dual-environment setup with approximately 38–39 custom modules, alongside third-party modules including OCA/Odoo Community Association modules. You must be comfortable moving quickly while still testing changes properly before they reach production. **Rate:** $15–$28/hour, based on experience and demonstrated Odoo capability **Location:** Remote, United States **Work authorization:** U.S. citizen required due to project requirements. ### What you will do * Develop, maintain, debug, and improve custom Odoo 18 Community Edition modules. * Work with OCA and other third-party modules without breaking existing custom functionality. * Diagnose issues across models, views, security rules, workflows, reports, server actions, automations, and integrations. * Test changes thoroughly in development/staging before production deployment. * Support a multi-company environment and ensure company-specific data, permissions, workflows, and configurations behave correctly. * Review existing custom modules for bugs, duplicate logic, upgrade risks, performance issues, and maintainability. * Use Claude or similar AI-assisted development tools responsibly to work faster, write tests, investigate code, and document changes—while personally verifying all output. * Communicate clearly about what changed, what was tested, risks, rollback steps, and any blockers. ### Required experience * Strong hands-on experience with Odoo Community Edition, ideally Odoo 17 or Odoo 18. * Python, PostgreSQL, XML, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and Odoo ORM experience. * Experience building and maintaining custom Odoo modules. * Experience with OCA modules and managing module dependencies. * Strong understanding of Odoo access rights, record rules, multi-company behavior, menus, views, actions, and workflows. * Comfortable working in Git, Docker, and a structured development/staging/production workflow. * Proven ability to debug issues independently and test work before calling it complete. * Able to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize clearly, and communicate directly. ### Strongly preferred * Experience with OdooPLM, manufacturing, inventory, documents, approvals, quality, or project workflows. * Experience upgrading or stabilizing a heavily customized Odoo environment. * Automated testing experience using Odoo tests, pytest, or browser-based regression testing. * Familiarity with deployment, backups, logs, Linux servers, and Docker Compose. * Experience documenting module behavior and technical decisions for future developers. ### What success looks like You move quickly, but you do not guess. Every change is tested, documented, and safe to deploy. You can work across a large custom-module ecosystem, understand how one change affects multiple companies and workflows, and help make the Odoo environment faster, cleaner, and more reliable over time. **To apply, please include:** * Your Odoo Community Edition experience and versions used * Examples of custom modules you have built or maintained * Your experience with OCA modules and multi-company environments * Your testing/deployment process * Your hourly rate and availability * A short explanation of how you use AI tools such as Claude without relying on unverified output Note: Only retain the “U.S. citizen required” line if it is tied to a real legal, contractual, government, or export-control requirement. Otherwise, use “Must be authorized to work in the United States.”
