On Upwork, clients can label a job post as a contract-to-hire job to let talent know it has the potential to turn into a full-time opportunity. The short-term contract phase happens on Upwork, like any other Upwork contract. Once you and the client are working together, you can evaluate whether there is a fit for a full-time work arrangement. If you both decide to transition to full time, the client requests to convert the contract between you and the client and pays a one-time conversion fee to Upwork.
In your Profile settings, you can select you are Open to contract-to-hire so it appears on your profile. If you are new to Upwork, you will see this option during profile setup. You can also update an existing Upwork profile at any time by going to Job Preference.
