Summary

Project Description: We are seeking an experienced legal scholar, J.D./LL.M. graduate, or academic research consultant to serve as a Co-Author and Lead Legal Researcher for an upcoming policy brief. The brief focuses on legal pluralism, analyzing the constitutional protections of customary absolute gifts (Agyapadie) under Ghana’s 1992 Constitution (Article 20) and Section 2 of the Land Act, 2020 (Act 1036), alongside Supreme Court jurisprudence (such as Yoguo v. Agyekum per Ollennu JSC). Primary Goal: To produce a high-caliber, peer-reviewed legal brief that will be submitted for archiving in an accredited University Scholarly Repository (e.g., Digital Commons, HeinOnline, Google Scholar). Key Responsibilities: Doctrinal Analysis: Refine statutory and case law analysis surrounding customary property rights and administrative registration gaps. Academic Formatting: Ensure the manuscript strictly adheres to Bluebook standards and repository submission guidelines. Faculty & Repository Coordination: Facilitate faculty review/supervision or manage the submission workflow through an affiliated university or open-access repository channel. Co-Authorship: Collaborate with the primary field lead (providing customary oral tradition and case study data) to finalize a publication-ready brief. Candidate Requirements: Institutional Access & Affiliation: Must have active access or affiliation with an accredited university/law school repository (e.g., current student, alumnus, faculty member, or researcher with submission rights). Degree: J.D., LL.M., Ph.D. in Law, or equivalent legal research experience. Specialization: Strong background in comparative property law, constitutional law, or legal pluralism / African customary law. Publication History: Prior experience publishing in law journals, SSRN, or university institutional repositories preferred.
