Adobe InDesign Production Automation Expert (ExtendScript / Google Apps Script Pipeline)

We operate an Independent grocery retail location and run comprehensive weekly print and digital advertising flyers. We have successfully developed and implemented a backend automation engine using Google Apps Script that pulls raw product data, images, and prices directly from a master Google Sheet and generates a local, clean JavaScript/ExtendScript file (update_flyer.jsx). We are looking for an experienced Adobe InDesign production automation specialist to build out our master multi-page layout templates and optimize our data-merge/scripting workflow. The Current Workflow Engine: Our master spreadsheet maps product data by customized location IDs (e.g., [P1_GROC_1_Title], [P1_MEAT_2_Price_Main]). The script outputs structured data arrays using stringified JSON blocks. The script utilizes native geometric target frame mapping to automatically look up PageItems via InDesign labels and place linked image assets dynamically from localized folders based on department subdivisions (groc/, meat/, dairy/, etc.). What We Need From You: Template Architecture: Build clean, modular, multi-page InDesign templates structured precisely to receive our script's tokenized find-and-replace strings and object-label mappings. Script Optimization: Review our existing working script to optimize code efficiency, asset placement handling, and layout scaling adjustments. Workflow Standardization: Ensure that when the compiled .jsx file is executed inside InDesign's Scripts Panel, the layout updates flawlessly in seconds without breaking alignment or text bounds. Required Technical Experience: Elite-level proficiency with Adobe InDesign desktop publishing. Deep experience with InDesign scripting/ExtendScript (JavaScript for Adobe). Experience handling automated text replacements, finding/changing preferences via script, and manipulating object properties dynamically via scripting labels. Strong understanding of local/cloud file structures, path sanitization, and asset linking workflows.
