Adobe InDesign Specialist for Workbook Finalization

We are seeking an experienced Adobe InDesign professional to review, correct, and complete the layout of an approximately 200-page workbook. The workbook’s content and overall design have already been developed. This is primarily a production, quality-control, and layout-finishing project—not a complete redesign. The selected freelancer will ensure that the entire workbook is visually consistent, correctly paginated, free of layout errors, and properly prepared for professional printing. This workbook contains instructional text, exercises, headings, tables, prompts, and spaces for participants to write. Strong attention to detail and experience preparing long-form documents for print are essential. Scope of Work The freelancer will be responsible for: • Reviewing and correcting pagination throughout the workbook • Ensuring all page numbers are accurate and consistently positioned • Updating and verifying the table of contents • Confirming that table-of-contents entries and page numbers match the final document • Checking all pages for overset, hidden, clipped, missing, or improperly displayed text • Correcting text overruns, awkward line breaks, widows, orphans, and other typography issues • Ensuring consistent use of fonts, font sizes, heading styles, paragraph spacing, margins, bullets, numbering, and other formatting • Reviewing page breaks and section openings for logical and visually appropriate placement • Ensuring tables, text boxes, exercises, and other page elements are aligned and consistently formatted • Confirming that writing spaces and workbook activities are appropriately sized and positioned • Checking headers, footers, section titles, and recurring page elements for consistency • Identifying and correcting obvious typographical or formatting errors • Making sure images and graphic elements are properly positioned and suitable for printing • Confirming that margins, bleeds, gutters, and the inside/outside page layout are appropriate for the intended binding method • Preparing a professional, press-ready PDF that meets commercial printing requirements Required Deliverables A fully corrected and finalized Adobe InDesign source file All linked images, fonts, and supporting files organized using InDesign’s Package function A print-ready PDF with appropriate bleed, crop marks, image resolution, font embedding, and color settings A separate low-resolution PDF suitable for electronic review or distribution A brief list of any remaining concerns, questionable content, or issues requiring our review Required Experience Applicants should have: Demonstrated experience laying out books, workbooks, manuals, textbooks, or other long-form documents Advanced proficiency with Adobe InDesign Experience using paragraph styles, character styles, master/parent pages, automatic page numbering, and automated tables of contents Strong knowledge of professional print-production standards Experience identifying overset text, missing links, font issues, and preflight errors Excellent proofreading and quality-control skills The ability to maintain an existing visual style rather than unnecessarily redesigning the document Strong attention to detail across a document of approximately 200 pages
