Amazon Kindle Book Marketing/PR Specialist

Job Title: Amazon Kindle Book Marketing / PR We are looking for an experienced book designer and Amazon KDP publishing specialist to help us prepare and publish a series of books. We currently have five completed or nearly completed manuscripts. We would like to begin with one book. If we are happy with the quality of the work and our working relationship, we expect to continue with the remaining books. The manuscripts will be provided primarily in Microsoft Word. We need someone who can take a manuscript and turn it into a professionally designed, publication-ready book, not simply convert a Word document into a PDF. The ideal person should have substantial experience with Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) and should be able to advise us on the best presentation of each book. Responsibilities will include: • Review and clean up the manuscript formatting before production. • Recommend the appropriate book/trim size for Amazon KDP. • Select professional and highly readable fonts, font sizes, line spacing and paragraph styles. • Design the interior of the book, including margins, chapter headings, page numbers, headers and footers, title page, copyright page, table of contents and other front and back matter. • Properly format photographs, illustrations, quotations, footnotes/endnotes and references when applicable. • Format the book for paperback and, where appropriate, hardcover editions. • Prepare a professional Kindle/eBook version (EPUB) that displays properly on different Kindle devices and screen sizes. • Ensure that all files meet current Amazon KDP technical requirements. • Help with cover specifications, including exact dimensions, bleed and spine width. Cover design ability would be an advantage, but please tell us separately if this is one of your skills. • Assist with ISBN, categories, keywords, book description and other KDP publishing information where needed. • Upload or assist us in uploading the completed book to Amazon KDP and resolve any formatting or technical problems identified by Amazon before publication. • Provide us with all final files and editable/source files so that we can make future corrections or produce later editions. We are particularly interested in someone who has already published multiple books through Amazon KDP. Quality, attention to detail, good judgment, communication and proven KDP experience are more important to us. This is potentially a continuing relationship involving several books. We would like to begin with one manuscript and proceed with the others if both sides are happy with the work.
