Animation Editor / Children's Series
Worldwide
We are producing a children's animated series using a hybrid AI animation pipeline and are looking for a creative, experienced editor to join our core team on an ongoing basis. The process works like this. You will receive approved keyframes, voiceover recordings, and AI-generated video snippets from our Animation Production Coordinator. Your first task on each episode is to assemble these into a working animatic, laying the voiceover against the keyframes to establish timing, pacing, and narrative flow. As finished AI video snippets are approved, you progressively replace the animatic pieces with final animation until the episode is complete. Throughout that process you work closely with the director, responding to notes and refining the cut until it is right. What makes this role more than a standard editing job is the creative initiative we are looking for. If a shot is missing, if continuity is off, if a scene needs an angle that was not generated, we want an editor who will flag it clearly and, where possible, step in and solve it. If you can jump into an AI generation tool, create a rescue still or a short snippet, and drop it into the cut to keep things moving, that is exactly the kind of resourcefulness we value. AI animation editing experience is our preference, though we understand this is an emerging field. Strong animation editing experience combined with genuine curiosity about AI tools is also a strong foundation. We edit in DaVinci Resolve. Experience there is a genuine advantage and familiarity with its colour tools and Fusion compositor is a bonus on top of that. Your portfolio should show us finished work. Completed animation edits, animatics, or anything that demonstrates how you cut for timing, performance, and story. If you have edited animation that includes AI-generated material, we particularly want to see it. Time zone: This role requires availability during Australian business hours (AEST, UTC+10). You do not need to be based in Australia, but regular Zoom sessions with the director are part of how we work. If your time zone cannot accommodate that, this role is not the right fit. Communication: English does not need to be your first language, but you must be confident speaking it on Zoom. We are a collaborative team and we need to be able to talk through creative decisions in real time. Text-only communication is not sufficient for this role. To apply: Share finished work that demonstrates your editing experience, with animatics included wherever possible. Tell us about your experience with animation and with AI tools. Confirm your time zone and your comfort with spoken English on video calls. Let us know your hourly rate.
