Apparel Tech Pack Designer — Long-Term, Production-Ready Documentation
Worldwide
# Apparel Tech Pack Designer — Long-Term, Production-Ready Documentation (Shorts, Hoodies, Sun Shirts → Pants) ## Overview I'm building an apparel line and need an experienced tech pack designer for **ongoing, long-term work**. We're starting with **shorts, hoodies, and sun shirts**, then expanding into **pants** and additional categories over time. I work with manufacturers and need factory-ready documentation detailed enough to produce accurate samples and bulk runs with zero ambiguity. Incomplete tech packs cause sampling delays and costly errors, so precision is non-negotiable. I have reference examples of comparable apparel in the market that I'll share with the selected designer to align on fit, construction, and finish. ## Required Deliverables (Per Garment) Each tech pack must include, at minimum: - **Technical flat sketches** — front, back, and relevant side/detail/exploded views (CAD-quality black-and-white line drawings, not fashion illustrations) - **Full Bill of Materials (BOM)** — all fabrics, trims, threads, labels, hangtags, packaging, with supplier/placeholder references - **Points of Measure (POM) spec sheet** — complete graded measurement chart with tolerances across the full size range - **Construction & stitch details** — seam types (ISO/ASTM stitch class references), SPI (stitches per inch), seam allowances, hems, topstitching - **Colorways** — all variations with Pantone TCX/TPX references - **Labeling & branding** — main, care, and size label placement with positioning callouts and dimensions - **Trim & hardware details** — zippers, drawcords, eyelets, grommets, etc., with sizing and placement - **Fabric specifications** — composition, weight (GSM), finish, stretch/recovery; for sun shirts include **UPF rating** and moisture-management/finish specs - **Care & content** — fiber content and care instructions - **Packaging & folding instructions** - **Grading rules** across the size range - **Revision/version control block** on every page Files delivered in both editable source (Illustrator/Adobe) and PDF, using industry-standard tech pack layout conventions. ## Initial Scope - **Phase 1:** Shorts, hoodies, sun shirts - **Phase 2:** Pants - **Ongoing:** Additional styles as the line grows — this is a long-term relationship, and I'm prioritizing designers who want consistent, repeat work. ## What I'm Looking For in Your Application 1. **2–3 examples of past tech packs** you've produced (full multi-page samples, not single sketches). **Required** — applications without samples won't be considered. 2. A brief note on your process and typical turnaround per garment. 3. Confirmation you can work to a **flat per-tech-pack price** (not hourly). Please state your flat rate per garment, and note whether knits (hoodies, sun shirts) vs. wovens (shorts, pants) are priced differently. 4. Your experience with cut-and-sew, knits vs. wovens, and working directly with manufacturers. ## To Confirm You Read This Begin your application with the word **"Stitch"** so I know you've reviewed the full brief. Looking forward to finding the right long-term partner.
