Arabic Language Team Lead for Labeling We’re looking for a highly experienced Arabic speaker to help lead, onboard, and support our Arabic transcription labeling team. This role requires strong knowledge of Arabic dialects, transcription quality, and the ability to drive consistency across multi-dialect Arabic audio using an existing working style guide. Dialects in Scope: Egyptian and Gulf Arabic to start, with plans to expand to additional dialects such as Saudi, Emirati, Qatari, Kuwaiti, Levantine, and others. What You’ll Do: -- Onboard Arabic labeling team members and ensure they understand project expectations -- Train labelers on our Arabic transcription style guide and support consistent application across dialects -- Review transcripts and provide clear, actionable feedback -- Evaluate, hire, and support Arabic transcriptionists -- Identify common labeling issues and recommend style guide clarifications -- Maintain consistency across dialects while respecting natural dialect differences -- Build and manage a high-quality, dialect-aware labeling team -- Work closely with our US-based team to meet quality goals and deadlines -- Transcribe to inform our teams on Arabic data/team complexities Time Commitment: -- Expected: up to 5-10 hours per week to begin, flexible based on project needs -- Project duration: 1 to 3 months, with potential for ongoing work Compensation: -- Hourly rate: $20 to $26/hour, depending on experience -- Paid via Upwork hourly contract What We’re Looking For: -- Native Arabic speaker -- Strong understanding of Egyptian, Gulf, Levantine, and other Arabic dialects -- Experience with transcription, labeling, linguistics, or language data -- Strong attention to detail and a quality-focused mindset -- Comfortable onboarding, guiding, and giving feedback to team members -- Able to make consistent style guide and quality decisions -- Fluent in English Bonus Points: -- Experience creating or maintaining transcription style guides -- Experience with ASR, TTS, speech AI, or language data projects -- Experience managing freelance or remote labeling teams You will play a key role in helping us build a consistent, high-quality Arabic labeling workflow across dialects. We already have a working Arabic style guide, and we’re looking for someone who can help improve it, apply it consistently, onboard team members effectively, and support quality at scale.
