Architectural Virtual Assistant – Revit Specialist Position: Architectural Virtual Assistant – Revit Specialist Work Setup: Remote / Virtual Specialization: Australian Residential Architecture Engagement: Paid Pilot Project with Potential for Ongoing Work Primary Software: Autodesk Revit About the Role We are seeking an experienced Architectural Virtual Assistant specializing in Autodesk Revit to support high-end Australian residential design and documentation projects. This is a technical architectural role rather than a general administrative VA position. The successful candidate will assist with Revit modelling, architectural drafting, design development, documentation, rendering, and project revisions. The initial engagement will be a paid pilot project, with the potential for ongoing work based on performance, quality, communication, and reliability. Key Responsibilities Revit Modelling & Design Development Review hand sketches, markups, existing RVT files, example drawing packages, and project Design Guidelines. Translate hand-sketched concepts and design intent into accurate and coordinated 3D Revit models. Update, develop, and maintain existing residential Revit models. Assist in developing concepts into functional and architecturally resolved residential designs. Ensure model consistency across plans, elevations, sections, and other project views. Incorporate architectural revisions and client/project manager feedback into the Revit model. Architectural Drafting & Documentation Prepare professional architectural documentation, including: Floor plans Roof plans where required Elevations Building sections Room layouts Dimensions and annotations Fixtures and fittings Key building levels Primary construction elements Relevant architectural details Ensure drawings are produced to the presentation standard and level of detail established by the provided example documentation package. Design Guidelines & Quality Control Review designs against nominated project Design Guidelines. Identify potential conflicts, inconsistencies, missing information, or unclear requirements. Flag areas that may require departures from the Design Guidelines. Assist in checking architectural drawings for accuracy, completeness, and coordination. Maintain high standards of Revit model organization and drawing presentation. Apply familiarity with Australian residential construction conventions and the National Construction Code (NCC) when completing project work. Architectural Rendering & Visualisation Produce presentation-quality exterior and interior architectural perspectives. Use Revit together with appropriate rendering and AI-assisted visualisation tools. Develop realistic and professional imagery suitable for client presentations and design reviews. Ensure rendered images accurately reflect the architectural design and selected materials. Revisions & Project Coordination Review architectural markups and implement requested changes accurately. Incorporate consolidated design feedback into models and documentation. Prepare and submit clear RFIs or questions where design intent, documentation, or requirements are unclear. Communicate potential design or documentation issues proactively. Maintain organized project files, drawing revisions, RVT files, PDFs, and rendered images. Collaborate remotely with architects, designers, project managers, and other team members. Required Skills & Experience The ideal candidate will have: Strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit. Demonstrated experience in residential architectural modelling and documentation. Previous experience with Australian residential projects, preferably high-end or custom homes. Ability to interpret hand sketches, architectural markups, and conceptual drawings. Strong understanding of architectural plans, elevations, sections, dimensions, levels, and construction documentation. Familiarity with Australian residential construction conventions. Working knowledge of the National Construction Code (NCC). Ability to interpret and work within project-specific Design Guidelines. Strong architectural design sense and attention to proportion, functionality, and detailing. Experience producing high-quality architectural visualisations. Experience with AI-assisted rendering tools is highly desirable. Strong attention to detail and quality control. Excellent file management and organizational skills. Clear written and spoken English. Ability to work independently while following project standards and instructions. Ability to identify issues and ask appropriate technical questions rather than making unsupported assumptions. Preferred Qualifications Highly desirable candidates will have: Degree, diploma, or formal training in Architecture, Architectural Drafting, Building Design, or a related discipline. Professional experience as an Architectural Drafter, Revit Technician, Architectural Designer, Architect, or Architectural Virtual Assistant. Portfolio demonstrating Australian residential Revit work. Experience working with Australian architects, builders, developers, or project management companies. Experience with high-end residential homes. Experience preparing professional architectural drawing packages from concept/design development stages. Knowledge of additional rendering software such as Enscape, Lumion, Twinmotion, D5 Render, or similar platforms. Experience integrating AI tools into architectural rendering and visualisation workflows. Initial Pilot Project The successful candidate will initially complete a paid residential pilot project. Project information provided will include: Hand-sketched residential redesign Existing RVT model Example architectural design/documentation package Applicable Design Guidelines Project feedback and markups The Architectural VA will be expected to develop these inputs into a coordinated Revit model and professional architectural design package. One consolidated round of design feedback will be included as part of the pilot. Pilot Project Deliverables The expected deliverables include: Updated and coordinated native Autodesk Revit (RVT) model Associated Revit/project files as required Professional PDF architectural design package Floor plans, elevations, and relevant building sections Dimensions, room layouts, fixtures, levels, and primary construction elements High-resolution exterior architectural renders High-resolution interior architectural renders RFIs/questions identifying unresolved design or technical matters Brief schedule confirming turnaround and any additional information required Performance Expectations The successful Architectural VA should demonstrate: Accuracy: Produce coordinated models and drawings with minimal errors. Revit Capability: Work efficiently within existing Revit models and maintain professional model standards. Architectural Judgement: Understand design intent and contribute to resolving residential designs rather than simply copying sketches. Attention to Detail: Identify inconsistencies, missing information, and coordination issues. Communication: Raise clear questions and RFIs when information is unclear.
