Summary

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced AutoCAD / Electrical Drafter to support the design and development of EV charging infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate has prior experience preparing and modifying electrical and site drawings, preferably for EV charging, electrical infrastructure, commercial construction, or similar projects. Project requirements, design direction, equipment information, and markups will be provided by our engineering team. The Drafter will be responsible for accurately translating these requirements into professional AutoCAD drawings and drawing packages. This position requires strong AutoCAD skills, familiarity with electrical and EV charging infrastructure, attention to detail, and the ability to complete drafting assignments with short turnaround times. Key Responsibilities  Prepare and modify AutoCAD drawings for EV charging infrastructure projects.  Develop EV charging site plans and parking layouts based on project requirements, surveys, existing drawings, and engineering direction.  Convert existing PDF drawings, sketches, and legacy plans into editable AutoCAD drawings.  Modify and maintain existing AutoCAD drawings, including proper use and organization of layers, blocks, line types, dimensions, annotations, and external references (Xrefs).  Review and interpret topographic surveys, boundary/site surveys, utility information, and existing-condition plans.  Incorporate EV chargers, electrical equipment, conduit routes, equipment pads, switchgear, transformers, panels, bollards, signage, and related infrastructure into site plans.  Prepare and update electrical single-line diagrams (SLDs) based on information and direction provided by the engineering team.  Prepare and modify panel schedules, equipment schedules, electrical notes, and related drawing details.  Incorporate equipment ratings including switchgear/switchboard ratings, panel ratings, transformer ratings, OCPDs, circuit breakers, fully rated breaker requirements, and feeder/branch circuit information.  Apply electrical load information, including continuous-load calculations and applicable 125% sizing requirements, as directed by the engineering team.  Coordinate site-plan information with electrical drawings to maintain consistency throughout the drawing package.  Revise drawings based on engineering comments, utility comments, permitting comments, and redlines.  Maintain accurate drawing revisions and organized project files.  Produce permit-ready and utility-submittal drawing packages under engineering direction. EV Charging & Electrical Knowledge Candidates should have previous exposure to electrical infrastructure and preferably EV charging projects. The Drafter should be familiar with:  NFPA 70 / National Electrical Code (NEC).  NEC Article 625 - Electric Vehicle Power Transfer Systems.  EV charging equipment and EVSE installations.  AC Level 2 and DC fast charging infrastructure.  Electrical service equipment, switchboards, switchgear, distribution panels, and transformers.  Circuit breakers, OCPDs, feeder circuits, and branch circuits. AutoCAD / Electrical Drafter - EV Charging Infrastructure  Electrical single-line diagrams and panel schedules.  Continuous electrical loads and equipment/conductor sizing concepts.  Basic electrical load calculations. Role boundary: The Drafter is not expected to independently engineer or stamp electrical designs, but must understand electrical drawings and terminology sufficiently to accurately implement engineering direction and identify obvious drafting or coordination issues. Parking & ADA Knowledge Candidates should have experience preparing site and parking layouts and should understand basic ADA accessibility requirements applicable to parking and EV charging installations, including:  Accessible parking layouts and ADA-accessible EV charging spaces.  Access aisle requirements and parking-space/access-aisle dimensions.  Accessible routes, sidewalks, pathway clearances, ramps, and curb ramps.  Ramp slopes, transitions, and required clearances.  Detectable warning surfaces / truncated domes.  Wheel stops, bollards, equipment placement, and accessible-route coordination.  Required maneuvering and clear-space considerations.  Accessible signage and pavement markings.  Recognizing common accessibility conflicts in proposed parking and EV charging layouts. Required Qualifications  Strong proficiency with AutoCAD.  Previous professional drafting experience in electrical, civil/site, EV charging, utility, or commercial construction projects.  Ability to create drawings from PDFs, surveys, sketches, redlines, and existing plans.  Experience modifying existing AutoCAD files and working with established layer structures.  Ability to read and understand topographic maps and site surveys.  Ability to read and modify electrical single-line diagrams.  Understanding of electrical equipment ratings, panels, switchgear, breakers, and OCPDs.  Familiarity with NEC requirements and electrical construction terminology.  Familiarity with ADA parking and accessibility requirements.  Strong understanding of drawing scales, dimensions, annotations, blocks, layers, and sheet organization.  Strong attention to detail and drawing consistency.  Ability to follow technical instructions and engineering redlines accurately.  Ability to manage multiple drawing revisions and projects simultaneously.  Ability to work efficiently and deliver assignments within short turnaround schedules. Preferred Qualifications  Previous drafting experience specifically involving EV charging stations / EVSE infrastructure.  Experience with both Level 2 AC charging and DC fast charging (DCFC) projects.  Experience preparing drawings for utility applications, electrical permits, plan-check submissions, or construction packages.  Familiarity with utility service layouts, transformers, meters, switchgear, and electrical service upgrades.  Experience coordinating electrical drawings with civil/site plans.  Familiarity with California EV charging and accessibility requirements is highly desirable.  Experience working from field surveys and as-built information. Work Expectations AutoCAD / Electrical Drafter - EV Charging Infrastructure This role supports projects that frequently require fast revisions and short drafting turnaround times. The candidate must be responsive and capable of efficiently implementing clearly defined project requirements, markups, and engineering comments. We will provide the project-specific design direction and requirements; however, the candidate is expected to bring sufficient prior EV charging, electrical, AutoCAD, site-plan, and ADA drafting experience to understand the terminology and execute the work without extensive training on fundamental drafting concepts. Accuracy, responsiveness, drawing quality, and the ability to quickly incorporate revisions are critical to this position.
