Automotive Electrical Engineer - RV/Caravan Wiring Loom Design & Voltage Drop Calculations

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Electrical Engineer to assist with the design and documentation of 12V electrical systems for campervans and caravans. The role involves calculating voltage drops, selecting appropriate cable sizes, fuse protection, wiring routes, and creating professional wiring loom drawings and harness documentation for production. We are looking for someone with hands-on automotive, RV, caravan, marine, or off-grid electrical experience who understands real-world installation requirements, not just theoretical design. Scope of Work Calculate voltage drop for 12V and 24V circuits Specify cable sizes, fuse ratings, breakers, and protection devices Design wiring looms and harness layouts Create professional loom drawings similar to Rapidharness, AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical, or equivalent Develop wiring schedules, connector schedules, and BOMs Review existing electrical designs and recommend improvements Ensure compliance with Australian automotive and RV electrical standards Assist with production-ready documentation for manufacturing Systems Typically Used Lithium batteries DC-DC chargers Solar systems Inverters Water pumps Diesel heaters Fridges Lighting circuits USB-C charging systems Vehicle charging circuits Required Experience Automotive electrical engineering RV, caravan, campervan, marine, or 4WD electrical systems Wiring loom and harness design Voltage drop calculations Fuse and circuit protection design Electrical CAD or harness design software Preferred Experience with Australian RV manufacturing Knowledge of AS/NZS standards Experience creating production documentation and BOMs Understanding of CANBUS systems (advantage but not essential)
