BIPV/Solar Facade Technical Drafter & Energy Analyst
Worldwide
Helios Facade designs and delivers BIPV (Building-Integrated Photovoltaic) curtain wall systems, ventilated facades, and window/glazing systems for commercial and multi-residential buildings, primarily in the New York, New Jersey, and broader Northeast US market, with additional work in Canada. We coordinate with architects, developers, structural/MEP engineers, and glass/panel fabricators to deliver solar-integrated building envelopes. We're looking for a technical drafter and energy analyst to own the drawing, modeling, and analysis workstreams behind our BIPV and facade projects. This is a technical role first - strong BIM/drafting skills and solar system knowledge are the priority. Comfort with light day-to-day coordination (written follow-ups on technical items, brief status updates) is expected, but general executive-assistant-style admin support is not the focus of this role and will be layered in organically as the working relationship develops. Core Responsibilities: Solar system installation design - Draft the components and layout of a BIPV/solar curtain wall installation: PV module/panel schedules, inverter and electrical equipment selection and placement, cabling/wiring runs and junction box locations, mounting/substructure layout, and system optimization (string sizing, orientation/tilt considerations, shading impact). Energy generation analysis - Model BIPV system sizing and energy yield estimates (kW system size, annual kWh generation, NPV/OPEX savings), and help build/maintain internal cost and energy calculators (Google Sheets/Excel). Window and curtain wall system design - Design and detail window/glazing systems and curtain wall assemblies: cable design, framing/mullion layout, glazing type selection (IGU makeups, spandrel vs. vision glass), thermal performance basics, and coordination with structural substructure requirements. Ventilated facade design (BIPV panels) - Design ventilated rainscreen facade systems using our BIPV panels as the cladding layer: substructure/bracket layout, air-cavity/ventilation detailing, panel-to-substructure fixation, and integration of PV wiring/junction boxes within a ventilated assembly. BIM and drawing production - Build and revise models and shop/fabrication-style drawings in Revit or Autodesk Forma (elevations, panel take-offs, glass/BIPV schedules, system schematics) from architect-issued drawings, coordinated for internal review and fabricator submission. Submittal support - Track submittal logs and deadlines (Autodesk Forma/Construction Cloud), organize shop drawings, cut sheets, and certification/testing documentation (module and fire testing standards) by project. Reports and presentations - Turn technical/financial inputs (cost models, submittal status, system performance) into written summaries and slide decks as needed. Required Skills: BIM proficiency required - Revit and/or Autodesk Forma; able to build and navigate building models and produce coordinated drawings. Solid understanding of solar PV system components (modules, inverters, cabling, mounting/racking or BIPV integration hardware) and system optimization principles. Facade/curtain wall and window system detailing experience (AutoCAD or Revit shop drawings, panel take-offs, glazing schedules). Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills for energy and cost calculations. Comfortable reading technical/construction documents (submittals, spec sheets, shop drawings). Clear written English for technical coordination. Highly organized, deadline-driven, low-supervision follow-through. Available for overlap with Eastern Time (ET) business hours. Nice to Have / Big Plus: Solar/BIM-integrated energy modeling experience (tools such as BIM-Solar, PVsyst, Sefaira, Ladybug/Honeybee, or similar solar irradiance/BIPV yield tools). Knowledge of building/construction codes in New York, New Jersey, and Canada (NYC building and energy codes, NJ Uniform Construction Code, National Building Code of Canada and provincial codes) as they apply to facades, glazing, and PV systems. Experience with PV module certification and testing standards (IEC and UL module standards). Tools We Use: Revit, Autodesk Forma/Construction Cloud, AutoCAD, Excel/Google Sheets, Google Workspace How to Apply: Please include: 2-3 sample drawings or models (panel schedules, curtain wall/window details, or BIM screenshots) you've produced; your BIM software experience and version; any solar PV design or energy-modeling experience; familiarity with NY/NJ/Canadian building codes if applicable; and your availability/timezone overlap.
