QA / Backend Support Engineer (QAB-1) - Fixed Sprint Project Project: SwarmPM Phase 1 Position ID: QAB-1 Engagement Type: Fixed-Price Sprint (Backfill) Project Window: Starts upon your commencement; due dates re-based accordingly. Project Overview GoBig.app is building SwarmPM, an AI-powered operating system for the global freelance team. This is not another project management tool; it's a live system of automated PM agents, parallel task orchestration, and payout routing. Phase 1 is a 403-hour program building the foundational infrastructure. We are currently in a live sprint, and due to a teammate stepping away, we are seeking one highly capable QA / Backend Support Engineer to backfill a critical role. You will ensure the quality and stability of the system as we execute the final milestones for this phase. This is a fixed, fully-specified sprint. You will not be managing scope or tracking hours; you will be delivering against a pre-defined set of 8 milestones. This structure protects you from scope creep and ensures you are paid promptly upon successful review of your deliverables. Your Role and Responsibilities As our QA / Backend Support Engineer, you will be responsible for performing quality assurance on the codebase and executing a set of critical infrastructure tasks to get the live system across the finish line. Your work will be focused on the following key areas: Testing & Validation: Executing a comprehensive test suite, including: Unit & Integration Testing: Writing and maintaining pytest suites to validate core backend services (e.g., test_ai_01.py, test_fs1_01.py, etc.) as defined in the Statement of Work (SOW). Validation & Verification: Running validation logic for SOW intake, schema migrations, and wash confidence routing. Error & Failure Testing: Writing test cases to verify system behavior for malformed files, duplicate submissions, and blockchain (LEDGER) fallback mechanisms. Backend Support & Infrastructure: Contributing to the platform's core infrastructure with a focus on quality, including: API Gateway & Authentication: Testing and verifying service-to-service authentication (gRPC) and the API gateway. Persistence & Caching: Validating database schema migrations and Redis caching layers. Event-Driven Architecture: Ensuring proper event ingestion and processing via Redis Streams and Temporal. Quality Assurance: Validating "already-built" detection, checking for hallucinations in task descriptions, and verifying security measures. Required Skills & Experience We are looking for a technically proficient freelancer who can dive in and start delivering immediately. Ideal candidates will have: 5+ years of experience in a QA, Backend, or Full-stack engineering role. Expertise in Python, specifically with pytest for writing unit and integration tests. Strong understanding of API testing and experience with FastAPI or similar frameworks. Experience with backend infrastructure, including PostgreSQL, Redis, and event-driven systems. Familiarity with cloud-native concepts and tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines. A commitment to quality and a meticulous eye for detail in testing and validation. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. What You'll Deliver You will be responsible for delivering 8 specific, pre-defined milestones. These milestones include testing components for services like the PoS (Probability of Success) Engine, the Kanban Board, the LLM Model Registry, and integrations with external systems like gRPC and Temporal. Example Milestones (refer to the SOW for the complete list): MS-AI-01: Write unit/integration tests for the PoS Scoring Engine. MS-FS1-02: Build and test the SOW Briefcase Upload & Wash Pipeline. MS-QA-01: Test the Advisors Review Dashboard & Cal.com integration. MS-SOW-04: Test the SOW Confidence Routing Logic. MS-INT-09: Test the integration with the pre-built Circuit Breakers (A2).
