Bench Cosmetic Chemist for Indie Skincare Formulation

I'm an indie skincare founder developing a lightweight serum-hybrid product (barrier-repair and hydration focus, glycerin and hyaluronic acid humectant system). I'm working with a formulation strategist who's building the complete formulation blueprint. I'm looking for an independent cosmetic chemist to handle the bench work: pour samples from the blueprint, run stability testing, and iterate based on written feedback. About the work: The product is a daily-use serum-hybrid that doubles as a mask-prep adhesion layer. Lightweight gel-cream texture, fragrance-free, sensitive-skin tolerance, clean ingredient positioning. Target retail $10 to $25. You'll receive a complete blueprint including the INCI with percentages, phase logic, preservation system, pH targets, and supplier shortlist. The work is bench execution, not formulation design. What you would do: Pour bench samples (typically 100g to 500g batches) from the provided blueprint. Run stability testing across standard conditions (room temp, 40°C, 5°C, freeze-thaw.) Iterate on samples based on written feedback covering texture, sensorial, performance, and stability. Document each iteration with batch sheets and observations. Send photos and short videos so we can troubleshoot sample behavior clearly- Flag any formulation challenges or trade-offs you see during execution. Ideal candidate- US or Canada-based with home lab or small shared lab access- 5+ years of cosmetic formulation experience, ideally with indie skincare- Strong track record with skincare emulsions, gel-creams, and film-forming systems- Comfortable executing against a blueprint rather than designing from scratch Excellent written communication and documentation habits. Reasonable lead time on sample rounds (2 to 3 weeks per iteration is typical). Engagement Hourly, $30 to $45 per hour, around 8 hours per week over a 6 to 10 week iteration phase.
