Beta Reader Needed — 25-Chapter Sample of a Dystopian Novel — $45, 2 to 3 Day Turnaround

***Note this project could lead to other projects I have for writing. I’m an author finalizing the opening of a 162,000-word dark dystopian novel. Before I send the full manuscript to anyone, I need to know whether the first five chapters hold a reader’s attention. I do NOT need a developmental editor, a writing coach, or a book reviewer. I need a fast reader who finishes books and can tell me, honestly and bluntly, where they slowed down or wanted to stop. What you’ll do 1. Read the 25 chapters I send 2. Fill out a short feedback survey (about 20 questions, takes 15-25 minutes) 3. Send it back within 48 hours of accepting the job. 72 ok if needed. That’s it. No marketing, no editing, no proofreading. What I’m looking for in a reader • You read fiction regularly • You’re comfortable telling someone their work bored you, confused you, or didn’t land • You’re NOT a writer, English major, or critique-group veteran (I want a real reader, not a professional editor) • You can turn around 2 to 3 days from accepting What I’m NOT looking for • Five-star “this was great!” feedback • Line edits or grammar notes • Plot suggestions or rewrite ideas • Long essays — short, blunt answers are better Deliverables A completed survey (Word doc I’ll send) with your honest answers. The more direct you are about what didn’t work, the more useful it is to me. Content note The book deals with adult themes including grief, terminal illness of a child character, an oppressive surveillance system, and emotionally intense romantic tension. No graphic violence or explicit sex in this sample.
