Bilingual Arabic-speaking Paralegal / Legal Assistant
Worldwide
Paralegal / Legal Assistant US Immigration Court (Removal Defense) * Firm: SS&T Immigration * Location: Remote. Based outside the United States (Middle East, North Africa, Europe, or other regions). * Employment Type: Full-time, remote (independent contractor, hourly) * Rate: $20 to $25 USD per hour, depending on experience (up to $30 for exceptional candidates with attorney-level experience at US firms) * Schedule: Monday to Friday, aligned with US Pacific Time business hours * Languages Required: Arabic (native or full professional fluency) and English (full professional fluency) About SS&T Immigration: SS&T Immigration is a US immigration law firm dedicated to defending immigrants in removal proceedings before the US Immigration Courts (EOIR) and representing clients before USCIS. Our clients are individuals and families fighting to remain in the United States, and our team treats every case with the urgency and care it deserves. We are a fully remote, technology-forward firm with structured processes, clear playbooks, and a collaborative culture. About the Role: We are hiring an experienced bilingual Arabic-speaking Paralegal / Legal Assistant to support our immigration court practice. A significant portion of our clients are Arabic speakers from the Middle East and North Africa seeking asylum and other relief before the US Immigration Courts. This role is focused on litigation and removal defense, not routine USCIS form preparation. You will work directly with our attorneys and clients as the operational backbone of active cases: preparing filings, managing evidence, tracking court deadlines, and keeping Arabic-speaking clients informed and prepared at every stage of their case. This is a full-time, long-term remote position with real responsibility from day one. What You Will Do: • Prepare, assemble, and file immigration court submissions: pleadings, motions, briefs in support, evidence packets, exhibit lists, and proposed exhibits with proper indexing, pagination, and certificates of service. • Draft applications for relief under attorney supervision, including asylum applications (Form I-589), cancellation of removal (Forms EOIR-42A and EOIR-42B), and supporting documentation for adjustment of status. • Conduct client intake and ongoing client communication in Arabic: interviews, document requests, status updates, and hearing preparation calls. Comfort across dialects (Levantine, Egyptian, Iraqi, Gulf) in addition to Modern Standard Arabic is highly valued. • Translate client documents and declarations from Arabic to English and prepare certificates of translation. • Gather and organize supporting evidence: declarations, identity documents, country conditions research, medical and psychological records, and witness statements. • Track and calendar all EOIR deadlines, master calendar and individual hearing dates, biometrics appointments, and filing windows. Missing a deadline is not an option in removal defense, and you will own the calendar. • File documents through EOIR's electronic filing system (ECAS) and monitor case status through EOIR's automated systems. • Prepare clients and witnesses for hearings alongside the attorney team. • Submit and track FOIA and records requests (EOIR, USCIS, CBP, ICE). • Maintain complete, current case files in our case management system: statuses, notes, documents, and next actions. • Communicate professionally with court clerks and DHS/ICE counsel as directed by attorneys. What We Are Looking For: *This is not an entry-level or trainee position. We are looking for someone who has already done this work at a US immigration firm and can hit the ground running.* • Required: 3+ years of hands-on US immigration court (EOIR) experience, including removal defense and asylum. Assembling an asylum filing (I-589, cover sheet, exhibits, certificate of service) should be second nature to you. We will train you on our systems and processes, not on the fundamentals. • Based outside the United States with authorization to work as an independent contractor in your country of residence. • Native or full professional fluency in Arabic and full professional fluency in English, both written and spoken. • Excellent written English. You will draft documents that go in front of immigration judges. • Exceptional attention to detail and a deadline-driven mindset. • Empathy and professionalism working with clients who are often in the most stressful moment of their lives, including trauma survivors. • Comfort with legal technology: case management platforms (Docketwise, MyCase, Clio, or similar), e-filing systems, and shared document workspaces. • A reliable home office with high-speed internet and a quiet space for confidential client calls. • Availability during US Pacific Time business hours. Nice to Have: • A law degree from your home country or formal US legal training. • Experience drafting asylum declarations and conducting country conditions research for Middle Eastern and North African countries. • Certified translation experience or formal translation credentials. • Prior remote work with a US-based immigration firm, especially a high-volume practice. Compensation: • $20 to $25 USD per hour depending on experience. Exceptional candidates (for example, an attorney in your home country with US immigration firm experience) may qualify for up to $30 per hour. • Full-time hours (40/week) with consistent, long-term work at a stable US law firm. • Paid onboarding and training on our systems, playbooks, and processes. • Growth path toward senior paralegal and case manager roles. How to Apply: In your proposal, please answer the following. Proposals that do not answer these questions will not be considered: • Summarize your US immigration court (EOIR) experience: which firms, how long, and what case types. • Describe one asylum or immigration court filing you prepared end to end, from intake to submission. • Confirm your Arabic and English fluency, written and spoken, and which Arabic dialects you are comfortable working in. • Confirm your availability during US Pacific Time business hours and your hourly rate in USD. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to schedule a 15-minute video screening call, conducted in both English and Arabic. SS&T Immigration is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all team members.
