About Us We are a localization company. We have content translated into English from the original Chinese. We need a sharp, detail-oriented proofreader to ensure the final English reads naturally, accurately, and persuasively. We are looking for a reliable, long-term partner to support our content workflow on an ongoing basis. --- Role Overview - Position: Part-Time Bilingual Proofreader (English-Chinese) – Remote - Scope: Proofread and polish English copy that has been translated from Chinese source text - Rate: $10 per 1,000 English words - Volume: Steady workflow – we release new projects regularly - Payment: Via Upwork - Communication: Entirely text-based (Lark) – no calls or meetings required --- Key Responsibilities - Review English copy translated from Chinese source files - Check for: - Accuracy of translation (meaning preserved) - Natural English flow and readability - Grammar, punctuation, spelling, and syntax - Consistency in terminology and tone - Proper formatting (headings, bullet points, etc.) - Compare against the original Chinese to catch any meaningful errors or omissions - Mark revisions clearly (e.g., in red text or using Track Changes) for easy review - Deliver clean, publication-ready copy --- What You Are NOT Expected to Do - ❌ No creative writing from scratch – the source content is already provided - ❌ No SEO keyword research or strategy – this is purely proofreading - ❌ No design or formatting work – just text review --- Niche Experience (Preferred but Not Required) Our initial projects may be in the infant & mom category (baby products, parenting gear, etc.). If you have experience in this niche, please mention it in your application.
