Bioengineer/Expert needed for Salinomycin Production Technology & SOP (12% Feed Grade, bioreactor)
Worldwide
We are looking for an experienced Bioengineer / Fermentation Specialist with a strong background in industrial microbiology and secondary metabolite production. Our goal is to develop a complete, scalable technology package and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for producing Salinomycin antibiotic (12% feed-grade premix) utilizing a horizontal bioreactor system. The ideal candidate will have hands-on industrial experience in Streptomyces albus fermentation, scale-up parameters, downstream processing, and formulation into standard 12% animal feed additive grades. Key Responsibilities & Deliverables 1 Fermentation Process Design & Optimization: Develop upstream protocols using Streptomyces albus strains for salinomycin biosynthesis. Adapt and optimize cultivation parameters specifically for horizontal bioreactor dynamics (e.g., shear stress, mixing efficiency, mass transfer, and aeration design tailored to viscous mycelial broths). Define media formulations, carbon/nitrogen sources, feeding strategies, and sterilization procedures. 2 Downstream Processing (DSP): Establish efficient extraction, filtration, and purification workflows to recover salinomycin from the fermentation broth. Formulate the active substance into a 12% feed-grade premix (including carrier selection like mineral flour/calcium carbonate, granulation parameters, and standardizing potency. 3 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Write comprehensive, step-by-step, audit-ready SOPs covering: Inoculum preparation and seed train scale-up. Horizontal bioreactor operation, cleaning-in-place (CIP), and sterilization-in-place (SIP). Fermentation monitoring, sampling, and troubleshooting (contamination control, foam management). Extraction, drying, blending, and quality control (HPLC assay methods, potency testing). Required Qualifications Education: Advanced degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Microbiology, or Biotechnology. Experience: Minimum 5–7+ years of industrial experience in secondary metabolite production (specifically polyether ionophore antibiotics like salinomycin, monensin, or avermectins). Technical Expertise: Proven track record working with non-standard or horizontal bioreactors for viscous/mycelial fermentation. Documentation Skills: Exceptional technical writing skills with a portfolio of previously drafted industrial SOPs and technology transfer packages. Project Scope & Timeline Budget: Fixed-price (Milestone-based) or Hourly (to be discussed based on proposal). Estimated Duration: 4–6 weeks. IP Note: All generated documentation, data, and technology frameworks will be exclusively owned by the client.
