AP Biology / AP Chemistry Instructor

Research Ignited is seeking an engaging and knowledgeable instructor to teach a live online AP Biology and/or AP Chemistry Summer Bridge course for high school students. We are especially interested in graduate students, PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and instructors from Ivy League universities or other top-ranked institutions. About the Program The AP STEM Summer Bridge is designed for rising high school students who want to strengthen foundational concepts before beginning AP-level coursework. Students often enter the school year balancing multiple AP classes, extracurricular activities, competitions, and college preparation. This program helps them build confidence and academic readiness before the semester becomes demanding. The goal is not to replace the AP course or focus only on test preparation. The course should help students understand important concepts deeply, improve scientific reasoning, and build a foundation that supports future coursework, research, and advanced STEM opportunities. Subjects We are hiring for: AP Biology AP Chemistry Candidates may apply to teach one or both subjects. Please clearly indicate your subject expertise in your application. Responsibilities Teach live, interactive online classes to small groups of high school students Introduce and review major AP Biology and/or AP Chemistry concepts Strengthen students’ understanding of foundational scientific principles Guide students through problem-solving, data analysis, graphs, experiments, and AP-style questions Explain difficult concepts in a clear and approachable manner Encourage student participation and maintain an engaging classroom environment Assign or review light practice work when appropriate Provide brief feedback on student progress Coordinate with the Research Ignited program team regarding curriculum and session planning Qualifications Strong academic background in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, biomedical sciences, chemical sciences, or a related field Current graduate student, PhD candidate, postdoctoral researcher, PhD holder, instructor, or highly qualified advanced undergraduate Excellent communication and online teaching skills Ability to explain advanced concepts to high school students Prior teaching, tutoring, mentoring, teaching assistant, or classroom experience Reliable internet connection and comfort teaching through Zoom Availability for weekday evening sessions during Summer 2026 Strongly Preferred Current or former affiliation with an Ivy League university or another highly ranked university Direct experience teaching or tutoring AP Biology or AP Chemistry Familiarity with the AP curriculum and AP-style free-response and multiple-choice questions Experience working with motivated high school students Research experience in a relevant scientific field Ability to connect foundational coursework to future research and STEM pathways Program Format Live online instruction Small cohorts of approximately 2–6 students Approximately 10 sessions over 6 weeks About 15 total instructional hours Weekday evening schedule Curriculum guidance and program support provided
