Board Game Maze Tile Designer Needed – Top-Down Fantasy Map Style
Worldwide
We are looking for a graphic designer / board game map artist to create top-down fantasy maze tiles for a cooperative board game called Enchanted Labyrinth. This is not a blank-slate illustration project. We already have the maze layouts, visual direction, reference style, and many of the core art assets established. We need someone who can follow the existing direction closely, assemble and polish the tile artwork, and maintain strong gameplay readability. The tiles are 5 x 10 inches and will be used as modular board game components. Players need to quickly understand where the paths, walls, special spaces, and movement areas are, so clarity is more important than dramatic illustration. We will provide: * Maze layout / line art * Stone/wall treatment references * Background art that sits underneath the stones * Fog layers * Creature assets * Environmental/detail assets * Example tile references * Notes on what we like and do not like * Locations for gameplay elements such as relic spaces, spawn areas, and doors Your role will be to: * Preserve the supplied maze structure * Use the provided assets to build polished top-down tile artwork * Keep paths and walls very easy to read * Match the approved visual direction * Add tasteful environmental detail without making the tile too busy * Create or source additional assets in the same style when needed * Use AI-assisted asset creation if helpful, as long as the final result is cohesive, polished, and commercially usable * Deliver print-ready files and layered source files The desired style is an enchanted forest ruin / magical labyrinth: mossy stone, roots, subtle fog, old ruins, small environmental details, strange creatures, and light magical accents. It should be atmospheric, but not cluttered. The final artwork should feel like a playable board game tile, not a fantasy scene painting. We do not want someone to completely reinterpret the style or redesign the game board. We are looking for a careful designer who can work within an established direction, use the assets we provide, and improve the tiles with tasteful composition, blending, lighting, texture, and detail. We would like to begin with one paid trial tile. If the trial tile works well, we will continue with the remaining tiles. If you're qualified and feel you would excel in this job (it really is a fun one!), please apply!
