Book Editor & KDP Formatter

Seeking a skilled editor and formatter to enhance and prepare a 20,000-word book for KDP. Responsibilities include editing for clarity, grammar, and flow, and formatting for professional presentation. The ideal candidate will have experience in publishing and a keen eye for detail. This is a part-time project with a short-term engagement. Scope of Work 1. Copyediting / Line Editing o Grammar, punctuation, spelling, and consistency pass o Sentence-level clarity and flow edits (preserve author voice — first-person, conversational, faith-driven tone) o Consistency check across chapter titles, terminology, and timeline of events o Light structural feedback welcome but not required (developmental edit not in scope) 2. KDP Formatting o Interior formatting for print (6x9", standard KDP trim size) — chapter headers, drop caps/section breaks, page numbers, front matter (title page, copyright page, dedication, table of contents) o eBook formatting for Kindle (reflowable .epub/.mobi via KDP) o Ensure formatting meets current Amazon KDP technical requirements (margins, bleed, gutter, font embedding) o Deliver print-ready PDF and Kindle-ready file 3. Front/Back Matter Support o Format table of contents, dedication page, and author bio page o Deliverables • Fully copyedited manuscript (tracked changes + clean version) • Print-ready interior PDF formatted for KDP paperback (6x9) • Kindle-formatted eBook file (EPUB/MOBI, KDP-compliant) • Brief formatting notes/style sheet for future editions
