I’m looking for a professional editorial designer to help establish the visual identity for an educational publishing brand. The first project is a professionally designed educational booklet (approximately 25–30 pages) titled: Why Your Adult Child Doesn’t Believe They’re Ill This booklet is the first publication in a larger educational series that includes books, workbooks, webinars, presentations, and online courses. If we’re a good fit, there will likely be additional projects including formatting my next full-length book, The Magic Bean Method™, and future publications. Design Goals The design should communicate: • Trust • Calm • Hope • Compassion • Professionalism This is not a marketing brochure. It is an educational publication intended to help parents understand serious mental illness. The design should feel like something a psychiatrist, therapist, or National Alliance on Mental Illness affiliate would confidently hand to a family. Style The visual style should be: • Modern • Minimal • Elegant • Clean • Spacious • Easy to read I prefer thoughtful editorial design over flashy graphics. Branding I already have: ✔ Brand colors ✔ Existing book design ✔ Existing logo ✔ Three custom educational illustrations I would like the booklet to establish a visual identity that can later be used for additional books and publications. Consistency across future publications is very important. Deliverables • Print-ready PDF • Source files (Adobe InDesign preferred) • Packaged fonts and linked assets • Editable master files The design should be easily updated as future editions are published. Files I’ll Provide • Manuscript (Word) • Existing book (“The Ableing Shift”) for style reference • Brand logo • Three custom illustrations • Brand colors Future Opportunities If we’re a good fit, I’d like to continue working together on: • The Magic Bean Method™ (full-length book) • Additional books • Workbooks • Guides • Presentation handouts • Webinar resources I’m looking for a long-term design partner rather than someone for a one-time project. Skills Needed I’m looking for someone experienced with: • Editorial book design • Educational publications • Adobe InDesign • Typography • Print layout • Visual hierarchy • Long-form reading experience Please Include When responding, please include: • Examples of educational books or guides you’ve designed • Experience formatting books (not just brochures) • Experience creating a consistent visual identity across multiple publications My goal is to build a publishing brand that becomes known for making complex psychological concepts simple, compassionate, and easy to understand. Every publication should feel trustworthy, calm, and thoughtfully designed. I’m looking for a designer who appreciates that this is about helping families first—not simply creating attractive pages.
