We are looking for an exceptional editor to join our publishing team as we scale our book production. This is not a proofreading or copyediting position. We already have an editor whose work has established the voice, structure, and editorial philosophy of our books. As our publishing schedule grows, we need a second editor who can fully understand that methodology and apply it with the same level of excellence. Before beginning any work, you will study our comprehensive editorial handoff guide, which explains not only what editorial decisions are made, but why they are made. The goal is for you to internalize the reasoning behind every edit so the finished work remains seamless regardless of which editor worked on it. What You'll Do Edit manuscripts while preserving the author's voice and message. Understand and apply our established editorial philosophy rather than imposing your own style. Maintain consistency in tone, pacing, structure, readability, and theological precision. Identify areas where clarity, flow, or organization can be strengthened. Collaborate with our lead editor to ensure consistency across all published works. Learn our editorial decision-making process so your edits align with our existing books. We're Looking For Someone Who Has extensive experience editing nonfiction books. Is an exceptional developmental and line editor. Can quickly learn and replicate an established editorial system. Pays obsessive attention to detail. Thinks critically about why changes improve a manuscript instead of simply making stylistic preferences. Is comfortable receiving feedback and refining their work until it is indistinguishable from our existing editorial standard. Has excellent written English and communication skills. Has experience working with Christian, theological, leadership, or educational books (preferred but not required). To Apply Please include: Your experience editing published books. Examples or portfolio of books you've edited. A brief explanation of your editing philosophy. Why you believe you're able to adapt to an existing editorial system instead of relying solely on your own editing style. We are looking for someone who values excellence, consistency, and craftsmanship. If you're the kind of editor who wants to understand the reasoning behind every editorial decision—not just correct grammar—we would love to hear from you.
