Bookkeeper — QuickBooks Online + Avalara / US Sales Tax (Remote)

We're a US-based IT reseller and managed services provider (value-added reseller). We resell hardware, software licensing, and recurring services from vendors like Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Nutanix, Fortinet, and others, sourced through distributors (TD SYNNEX, Arrow, Ingram Micro) and direct from OEMs. Our deal volume is scaling quickly and we need a sharp, reliable bookkeeper to own the books and keep us clean as we grow. This starts as a cleanup engagement and converts to an ongoing monthly relationship if it's a good fit. Phase 1 — Cleanup (estimated one-time project): - Diagnose and correct double-counted transactions that have overstated revenue - Reconcile bank and credit card feeds - Review our chart of accounts and clean up categorization (COGS vs. OpEx, etc.) - Get the books to a trustworthy, reconciled state Phase 2 — Ongoing: - Verify and manage customer invoices - Verify sales tax is calculated and applied correctly via Avalara, and prepare remittance - Reconcile accounts monthly - Track AR and flag aging - Keep COGS, vendor bills, and margin clean at the deal level You must have - QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification (please confirm and share your status) - Hands-on experience with Avalara / AvaTax and US sales tax (nexus, exemptions, multistate remittance) - Experience bookkeeping for a COGS-heavy business - Strong English, responsive communication, comfortable with a few hours of overlap with US Eastern time
