Bookkeeper for Australian Businesses

Australian Bookkeeper – Xero, Payroll and Systems Setup We are looking for an experienced bookkeeper to help set up and manage the bookkeeping for a growing recruitment and labour-hire business, together with a farm and several smaller property and investment activities. The role will start at approximately 1–10 hours per week and is expected to grow over time. The role will include: Setting up and reviewing Xero Creating practical charts of accounts for multiple businesses Bank and credit-card reconciliations Accounts payable and receivable Payroll setup, checking and reconciliation BAS, GST, PAYG and superannuation support Labour-hire payroll and client invoicing Farm, property and investment bookkeeping Month-end reporting and cash-flow monitoring Working with our accountant when required Setting up simple approval and filing processes Helping automate invoices, receipts and accounting tasks Using Microsoft 365, SharePoint and Power Automate where practical What we are looking for: Good knowledge of Australian bookkeeping and payroll Strong Xero experience Experience with recruitment or labour-hire businesses Experience with Australian awards, casual employees and varied rosters Experience working across multiple businesses Farm, property or investment bookkeeping experience would be beneficial Excellent attention to detail Clear communication and the ability to work independently Experience with Microkeeper, SharePoint, Power Automate or Power Apps would be highly regarded. You may be based outside Australia, provided you have strong experience with Australian bookkeeping and payroll. BAS Agent registration, or experience working with an Australian accountant or BAS agent, would be an advantage.
