Brand Designer and/or Shopify Developer
Worldwide
Looking for: Brand Designer and/or Shopify Developer I am building a new lifestyle webshop that sells a carefully curated mix of vintage and modern collectible objects — think analogue cameras, vintage watches, retro audio equipment like Walkmans and vinyl, designer figures like Bearbricks and Kaws, discontinued Lego sets, vintage home objects, and retro gaming items. Some products are one-of-a-kind vintage pieces with a provenance story behind them. Others are modern limited collectibles or own-designed accessories. The shop is positioned as a warm, personal concept store — not a flea market, not a cold gallery. The primary market is the United States, with international shipping worldwide. I am looking for one person or agency that can handle both the branding and the Shopify build. If you only specialise in one of the two, you are still welcome to apply — just be clear about which part you are offering. --- 1. Brand identity The brand needs a visual identity built from scratch. This is not a small cosmetic task — the branding will be the foundation of how the shop is perceived, how it stands out in a crowded market, and how it communicates across the website, social media, and physical packaging. The feel of the brand sits somewhere between a modern, clean Shopify interface (think upfront.nl as a reference for that combination of clean design with warm photography) and the collector-den aesthetics of accounts like @yohan.lai and @technostalgism on Instagram. Warm, cinematic, curated — not vintage kitsch, not cold minimalism. I have gathered extensive references including Instagram accounts, Behance projects, Pinterest boards, and competitor sites. These will be shared once I have spoken with you. What I want from a designer is someone who takes this input, uses their expertise, and comes back with a recommendation — not someone who just executes exactly what I describe. The brand direction is my starting point; the execution is yours. Deliverables: - Logo and compact icon version for social media and favicon - Color palette with rationale - Typography system with rationale - Brand card design — a small physical card included in every order (front and back) - Social media templates for Instagram Reels, Pinterest, and drop announcements - Brand style guide --- 2. Shopify store build The store is international, ships to all countries, and has some specific technical requirements that go beyond a standard Shopify setup. I will share a full detailed brief if we move forward, but here is an overview of what is needed. General setup: - Shopify Markets with DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) for all non-EU countries, so import duties are shown as a separate, visible line item at checkout. Customers pay duties at the time of purchase, not at delivery. - Multi-currency display - Dutch VAT margin scheme (margeregeling) correctly implemented — vintage items bought from private individuals are tagged as margin goods and set to tax exempt in Shopify, with invoice templates that reflect this correctly. This is a specific Dutch VAT requirement and not standard Shopify behaviour. If you are not familiar with this, please say so. Filters and discovery: This shop sells products across multiple categories — cameras, watches, audio, figures, lifestyle. One of the key discovery mechanisms is a year range slider that lets customers filter by the year a product was made. This means every product has a numeric year metafield, and the theme renders this as a draggable range slider (not checkboxes). There is also an era filter with five options: Vintage, 80s, 90s, Y2K, and Modern. Product page features: Products have a set of optional custom metafields that only appear on the product page when filled in. These include a how-to video embed (a YouTube review for that specific camera model), a provenance video (an interview with the original seller), a written provenance story, and a condition description that changes dynamically when a customer switches between grade variants. There is also a what's included field (box, manual, accessories, etc.). An automatic safety text block appears based on a product tag — no manual copy-paste per product. Community tiers and drops: The shop uses a three-tier (or maybe more) customer community system to reward repeat buyers and create exclusivity around product drops. The tiers are called Explorer, Collector, and Curator. Tier assignment is fully automated via Shopify Flow based on number of orders and lifetime spend — no manual work. Each tier gets early access to product drops at a different time interval before public release. The Curator tier gets access to private drops that never go public at all, via a password-protected collection. These private drops are communicated via Klaviyo email campaigns sent to that segment. The goal of this system is to build a loyal community without relying on discounts — early access and exclusivity are the rewards, not price reductions. Shopping channels and integrations: - Pinterest catalog sync via the official Shopify app - Instagram and Facebook Shopping - YouTube Shopping (products tagged in video reviews) - TikTok Shop (launched in the Netherlands in June 2026) - Klaviyo for email marketing and tier-based drop campaigns - Shopify Spring 2026 AI features: Catalog and Agentic Commerce (products discoverable in ChatGPT, Copilot, Google AI Mode), AI Sales Associate in Shopify Inbox, Rollouts for A/B testing - Sendcloud with UPS contract for shipping label automation and DDP label creation Legal requirements: - Withdrawal button (legally required in the EU from June 2026) — a functional two-step button in the order overview, not just text - GPSR safety text blocks auto-displayed via product tags - GDPR cookie consent banner - WCAG AA accessibility compliance --- Please tell me in your response: 1. Can you handle both branding and the Shopify build, or only one? 2. Portfolio links relevant to this project (brand identity work and/or Shopify stores) 3. Your experience with international Shopify stores — DDP, Shopify Markets, multi-currency 4. Have you implemented the Dutch VAT margin scheme in Shopify before? 5. Estimated timeline for your part of the project 6. Your rate — hourly or fixed project fee If you are a good fit, I will share a full written brief covering every detail. The brief is thorough. Please do not ask for more information before applying — everything you need to respond is in this post. Applying for only the branding or only the Shopify build is welcome. Please be clear about which part you are offering or can do both.
