Brand Positioning Strategist (Project-Based)
Worldwide
HERE'S WHERE WE'RE AT Sud Scrub started as a silicone body scrubber in a category where everyone says the exact same three things: cleaner than a loofah, lasts longer, better for your skin. Buyers can't tell any of us apart anymore, so they just pick whatever's cheapest. Fun. But we've outgrown the single-product story. We're building a system now: body scrubber, body wash, face scrubbers, a kids line, accessories. So we don't just need a product angle, we need the big idea that makes all of it feel like one brand instead of a random pile of shower stuff, plus a clear call on how each product plugs into it. That's what we're hiring you to figure out. Not different for the sake of different. The angle that's already sitting in our buyer's head, that nobody in the category has claimed, backed by evidence, built to stretch across a whole product line. WHAT YOU'RE ACTUALLY DELIVERING Fixed scope, real output. When we're done, we should be holding: - A map of the category: what every competitor claims, where they're all bunched up, and where the real open space is - The brand-level position: the core belief that makes a scrubber, a wash, and a kids line hang together. Heads up: if your answer is something like "the complete shower system," we're passing. That's a category description, not a position - The architecture: do we lead with the hero product and let the system ride along, or lead with the system? And how does each product express the position without just repeating it? - Receipts. Every recommendation traced back to actual buyer data: reviews, competitor listings, customer interviews, support conversations. A unique angle with zero buyer signal behind it is worthless to us - A messaging hierarchy: the transformation we're selling, the proof, and the things we deliberately refuse to say - A one-pager a copywriter can run with, without asking us a single strategy question WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR - You've positioned consumer products in crowded spaces before: beauty, personal care, supplements, CPG. If your whole resume is B2B SaaS, this isn't your project - You've done multi-product or brand-platform work, not just single-SKU stuff. Show us a brand where your positioning held up as the line grew - You have an actual process for finding open angles, not just a knack for clever brainstorms. Walk us through how you go from raw buyer data to a position, step by step - You know the difference between white space that's empty because nobody looked and white space that's empty for a reason. Tell us how you tell them apart - You'll tell us our assumptions about our buyer are wrong to our face, backed by evidence WHAT THIS ISN'T Not a copywriting gig. Not branding, naming, or design. Not a vibe session where we pick the tagline that sounds coolest. We want a real decision, backed by real evidence, written down, that we can build product launches on for years. HOW TO APPLY Send one case study: a brand you positioned that had to stretch across multiple products, the idea you landed on, why the data backed it, and what happened. Then take a look at the body scrubber and shower accessories space and give us three sentences on where you think the brand-level opportunity is. You'll be partly wrong, since you don't have our data yet: we're grading how you think, not whether you nail the guess.
