Browser Extension + Web App Developer
Worldwide
Project Overview I'm building a "Grammarly for legal risk" — a tool that reads what a user is writing on an email or a doc and flags language that could create legal or liability exposure for them or their company. Instead of just flagging, it asks the user 2-3 quick clarifying questions, then suggests a rewritten version with the changes highlighted and a short explanation for each change. The user can accept or reject each suggestion individually before using the final text. The product has two components: A browser extension that works inside Gmail and Outlook Web (web-based email), so the user can check an email before sending it, without leaving their inbox. A web app where the user can upload a document (PDF or Word) and get the same risk analysis and rewrite suggestions applied to it. This is a fixed-price contract for a complete, fully working product covering the scope below — not a proof of concept or partial build. There will be paid follow-on phases later (e.g., additional email clients, more file formats, etc), but those are separate future contracts, not part of this one. This contract should stand on its own as something I can actually use and hand to other people to use. Full Scope (Budget: $500 fixed price) Browser extension (Gmail + Outlook Web) Installs as a Chrome extension and injects into both Gmail and Outlook Web compose windows. User clicks a button to analyze their current draft. The draft is sent to an LLM API (I will provide the API key — Anthropic Claude API) with a prompt designed to assess legal/liability risk (unintended commitments, admissions, promises that create obligations, risky tone, etc.). The extension shows 2-3 short clarifying questions to calibrate the rewrite (e.g., "Is this meant to be legally binding?" or "do you want to create a hard deadline here?"). The user can answer any/all or skip. The extension displays a suggested rewritten version, with changes visually highlighted (diff-style) and a short explanation next to each change. The user can accept/reject each individual suggested change. The user can insert the final resulting text back into the compose window (or copy it). Web app (document upload) A simple web page where the user uploads a PDF, Pages or Word (.docx) file. The tool extracts the text, runs it through the same risk-analysis flow (questions → suggested rewrite → highlighted changes → accept/reject per change). The user can download or copy the resulting revised text. Shared across both Language selector in the UI — the tool should auto-detect the input language of the text and let the user override it. The user should be able to edit/write in the language he is writing on. Clean, modern, simple UI — this should feel like a polished consumer product (in the spirit of Grammarly), not a bare-bones dev tool. Must support at least English at launch. Billing system User account creation/login (email-based is fine — doesn't need social login). Stripe integration for subscription billing (I will provide the Stripe account/keys). At least one paid plan (e.g., monthly subscription); a simple free-tier/trial limit is a plus but not required. Basic customer-facing billing page: current plan, upgrade/cancel, payment method. The extension and web app should check the user's account/subscription status before running an analysis (i.e., gate access to paying/trial users). Explicitly out of scope for this contract (possible future phases): desktop app, native email client integrations (Outlook desktop, Apple Mail), additional languages beyond EN, usage analytics/dashboards, multiple pricing tiers, annual billing, invoicing/tax handling, browsers other than Chrome. Requirements: Proven experience building Chrome extensions AND simple web apps (please link 1-2 examples of each in your proposal) Comfortable integrating with LLM APIs (Anthropic/OpenAI) — I'll provide credentials Experience integrating Stripe for subscription billing (please confirm you've done this before, not just read the docs) Experience extracting text from PDF and .docx files programmatically Strong front-end/UI skills — please share design examples, not just functional demos Clear communicator — I'm non-technical on the implementation side but very hands-on directing product decisions What to Include in Your Proposal: Confirmation you understand this is a $500 fixed-price contract for the complete scope above, fully functional — not a partial or demo version Links to 1-2 relevant past projects for both the extension side and the web app/document side Your estimated timeline for delivery Any part of this scope you think is unrealistic at this budget — I'd rather know now than after the contract starts Any questions you have about the product that would help you scope it accurately Fixed price: $500 for the complete scope above, functioning end-to-end, both the extension and the web app Milestone-based payment required (e.g., 40% on working extension demo, 30% on working web app demo, 30% on final integrated delivery) — open to discussing exact structure Looking to start within the next 1-2 weeks
