Title: Fusion 360 CAD Cleanup & DFM Optimization (3D Printing + Injection Molding) Description: I need an experienced CAD/manufacturing engineer to clean up and optimize a set of Autodesk Fusion 360 part files for production. These are automotive aftermarket parts. The models are functional and the geometry is mostly right, but repeated boolean add/subtract operations and dimension changes over time have left the files messy — stray edges, leftover artifacts, non-manifold geometry, and generally inefficient modeling. I need someone who can go in, clean these up properly, and rebuild/optimize the geometry so it's actually efficient to manufacture — not just cosmetically neater. Two production paths need to be supported from the same cleaned-up files: 1. 3D printing — geometry needs to be print-friendly (wall thickness, overhangs/supports, orientation-aware design where relevant) 2. Injection molding — same parts also need to be optimized for tooling: proper draft angles, consistent wall thickness, avoiding undercuts where possible, and generally reducing tooling cost/complexity Deliverables should include the cleaned-up native Fusion 360 files plus exported STEP files (or other formats as needed for downstream use). What you'll be doing: - Auditing existing Fusion 360 files for geometry errors, redundant history/timeline steps, and non-manifold or messy topology - Rebuilding/simplifying model history where it improves stability and manufacturability - Applying DFM best practices for both additive (3D printing) and injection molding production - Delivering clean native files plus STEP exports, with brief notes on what was changed and why What I'm looking for: - Strong hands-on experience in Autodesk Fusion 360 (not just familiarity) - Real DFM experience for both 3D printing and injection molding — these have different (sometimes conflicting) design rules, so I need someone who actually understands both, not just one - Comfortable working from existing files rather than starting from a blank canvas - Portfolio examples of before/after cleanup or DFM optimization work (actual geometry, not just renders) To apply, please include: 1. A short example of a messy CAD file you cleaned up or optimized for manufacturing (before/after if possible) 2. Answer this in your proposal: what's one design rule that differs between optimizing a part for 3D printing versus injection molding? This could lead to ongoing work as I have more parts in the pipeline beyond the initial batch.
