3D CAD Designer Needed – Functional Drawer/Storage Accessory for Cinch Machine

I am looking for an experienced **CAD / product designer specialized in functional parts for FDM 3D printing**. I currently manufacture and sell the storage drawer/accessory shown in the attached reference photos. I would now like to redesign it specifically for **3D printing**, while maintaining its functionality and overall concept. This is NOT just a visual 3D modeling project. The final product must be **dimensionally accurate, functional, printable, and properly fit a Cinch binding machine**. ## About the Product The accessory consists primarily of: * An outer storage/base structure. * A large pull-out drawer. * A flat upper surface/platform. * A rear extension with multiple rectangular openings/slots. * Two extended side arms with curved cutouts. The rear section is particularly important because its shape and dimensions are designed to **fit and align with the Cinch machine**. I will provide detailed photographs and physical measurements of my existing product. ## What I Need Improved The current product is manufactured from assembled flat pieces, so seams/joints are visible in several areas. For the 3D-printed version, I want a much more refined result: * **Smooth, continuous exterior surfaces.** * No visible construction seams or unnecessary joints. * Clean corners and edges. * Professional, finished-product appearance. * No unnecessary decorative texture. * The drawer should slide smoothly. * The finger pull/notch on the drawer should be clean and comfortable. * The rear slotted section and side arms must be accurately reproduced so that the accessory properly interfaces with the Cinch machine. The goal is for the 3D-printed version to look like a **purpose-designed manufactured product**, rather than a reproduction of something assembled from sheets. ## Functional Requirements The designer must understand **FDM 3D-printing tolerances**. Please account for: * Proper clearance between the drawer and housing. * Accurate fit with the Cinch machine. * Appropriate wall thickness. * Structural rigidity. * Clean printing orientation. * Minimizing supports whenever possible. * Reasonable material usage and print time without sacrificing strength. * Fillets/chamfers where appropriate for a cleaner professional finish. I will be printing prototypes myself, so after the first test print I may provide measurements/feedback for **minor tolerance adjustments**. The design should preferably be **parametric**, so dimensions and clearances can easily be adjusted after testing. ## Important: Size and Printability The designer should evaluate the overall dimensions against the available 3D-printer build volume. If the complete accessory cannot reasonably be printed as one piece, I need the designer to propose the **best way to divide the model into parts**. Any required assembly system should be clean, strong and preferably hidden or minimally visible when the product is assembled. Please do NOT simply split the model arbitrarily to make it fit the printer. ## Deliverables Final deliverables should include: * STL files ready for 3D printing. * STEP files. * Original editable CAD/source files. * Separate files for each component if the product needs to be printed in multiple pieces. * Final version after minor dimensional/tolerance corrections resulting from the prototype test. Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Onshape or similar **parametric CAD software is preferred**. ## When Applying Please include examples of previous work involving: * Functional 3D-printed products. * Drawers, sliding mechanisms, enclosures or fitted accessories. * Parts designed to fit an existing physical product. * Parametric CAD modeling. Experience creating decorative 3D models alone is not sufficient for this project. I am specifically looking for someone experienced in **functional/product CAD design for 3D printing**. I will provide the selected freelancer with additional measurements and detailed reference photos.
