CAD Designer Needed for 3D-Printed Self-Draining Sneakerbox-Inspired Planter
Worldwide
I am developing a product line called **PHRESH Planters**. The product is a square, sneakerbox-inspired self-draining planter designed for 3D printing. I need a CAD/product designer to create professional, print-ready files for the first prototype. The planter should resemble a modern shoebox/sneakerbox, but it must be an original design. It will have an open top for plants, a thick lid-style rim, rounded edges, a front label area, and a hidden sliding water tray at the bottom. The first prototype should be the **medium size**. After the medium version is approved, I may hire the same designer to create the mini and large versions. **Main Product Requirements:** * Square shoebox-inspired planter * Open top planting cavity * Thick shoebox-style top lid/rim * Rounded corners and premium product look * Built-in drainage system * Removable sliding water tray * Tray should slide in and out from the front * Tray should have a half-moon pull notch * Internal drainage floor with holes * Water should drain from the planting cavity into the tray below * Tray should fit smoothly with proper 3D-printing tolerances * Tray face should sit flush when closed * Design should be suitable for PETG or ASA 3D printing * Separate color zones for lid/body/tray if possible **Important Design Details:** I have two design/color directions: 1. **Red/Black version:** The red portion represents the shoebox lid/top rim. The black portion is the body of the box. 2. **Black/Turquoise version:** The turquoise portion represents the bottom band of the sneakerbox. The outward-facing part of the sliding tray should also be turquoise, so when the tray is inserted, it creates a seamless turquoise band around the bottom. **Medium Prototype Measurements:** * Outer dimensions: 7 in W × 7 in D × 6.5 in H * Inner cavity: 6 in W × 6 in D × 5.25 in H * Wall thickness: 4 mm * Tray/reservoir height: 0.85 in / 22 mm * Drain holes: 20–30 holes, 5–6 mm diameter * Tray clearance: approximately 1.25 mm per side * Estimated soil volume: 2.2–2.8 L **Deliverables Needed:** 1. Editable STEP file 2. STL file for 3D printing 3. 3MF file if available 4. Separate files for planter body and sliding tray 5. Exploded view showing planter body, drainage floor, and tray 6. Cross-section drawing showing how water drains into the tray 7. Dimensioned PDF drawing 8. Renderings from multiple angles: * Front view * Side view * Top view * Tray closed * Tray pulled out * Exploded drainage view **Experience Needed:** Please only apply if you have experience with: * Product CAD design * 3D printing tolerances * Sliding or moving parts * STL/STEP file creation * Consumer product design * Designing parts that can be manufactured or printed **Questions for Applicants:** 1. Have you designed 3D-printed products with sliding parts before? 2. Can you provide both STEP and STL files? 3. Can you design for PETG or ASA printing? 4. Can you include proper tolerances for a sliding tray? 5. Can you create an exploded view and cross-section drawing? 6. Will I own full commercial rights to the final CAD files? I will provide mockup images, reference layouts, and design notes after selecting the right designer.
