CAD Designer / 3D Printing Specialist Needed (STEP File Modification & Print Optimisation

We are looking for an experienced CAD designer with strong knowledge of FDM 3D printing to help improve an existing product that we manufacture and sell. About the Project We have an existing font set that was designed last year and is currently supplied as a STEP file. While the letters themselves generally print well, we are experiencing several ongoing issues that are affecting production efficiency and consistency. Current issues include: Storage box occasionally warping during printing which doesnt allow the box to clip up properly - looking to redesign this. Bases of some letters warping Reverse letter engraving on the underside being too fine and sometimes not printing clearly General print reliability could be improved We have already spent considerable time adjusting print settings and making minor tweaks, however we would like an expert to review the design and help us create a more foolproof production process. Scope of Work We are open to either: Modifying our existing STEP files, or Completely redesigning the product using our existing font Tasks may include: Reviewing the current design Identifying areas causing print failures or inconsistencies Adjusting geometry to improve print success rates Improving underside lettering/branding Optimising parts specifically for FDM printing Assisting with print settings and testing recommendations Providing production-focused improvements to reduce waste and failed prints Our Setup Bambu Lab printers Bambu Studio PLA printing Existing STEP files available Photos of current print results available Ideal Candidate Strong CAD experience (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, etc.) Extensive FDM 3D printing knowledge Experience designing products specifically for production printing Understanding of warping, dimensional accuracy, support-free design and print optimisation Ability to provide practical recommendations, not just CAD modifications Timeline This project is urgent and we are looking to start immediately.
