CAD Engineer Needed for Small Plastic Wearable Accessory Prototype
Worldwide
I’m looking for a CAD / mechanical product design engineer to help turn an approved product concept into a prototype-ready 3D model. This is a small plastic consumer accessory with a compact capsule-like form, an internal cavity, an integrated clip, and a simple opening/closure mechanism. The overall visual direction is already defined, so I’m looking for someone who can preserve the design while solving the engineering details. The goal is to create a clean, functional CAD model that can be used for early prototyping and future product development. Scope of Work I need help with: Creating a 3D CAD model from provided reference images. Designing a small internal cavity around a provided sample object. Engineering a low-profile integrated clip. Developing a simple lid, hinge, and closure concept. Creating cross-section views to show wall thickness, cavity, clip, hinge, and closure. Preparing prototype-ready files for 3D printing. Providing basic notes on manufacturability and future injection molding considerations. Important The visual design direction is already established. I am not looking for someone to redesign the product from scratch. I need someone who can work within a defined design and make it functional, manufacturable, and prototype-ready. Detailed reference images, dimensions, and design notes will be shared with shortlisted candidates. Ideal Candidate Please apply if you have experience with: Small plastic product design Consumer product CAD Compact enclosures or accessories Integrated clips Hinges, snap fits, flexures, or closure mechanisms 3D-printable prototypes Injection molding considerations Deliverables Expected deliverables may include: Native CAD file STEP file STL files for prototype printing Cross-section views Basic engineering notes Recommendations for prototype iteration To Apply Please send: Examples of small plastic products you have designed. Examples involving clips, hinges, snap fits, or compact enclosures. What CAD software you use. Your suggested process for moving from reference images to prototype-ready CAD. Estimated timeline and cost for a first CAD/prototype-ready version. Because this is an early-stage product concept, I’ll share the full design brief and specifications only with shortlisted candidates.
