CFD Workflow Development with OpenFOAM

Develop a CFD workflow using OpenFOAM to simulate airflow, temperature distribution, and thermal performance. The project involves creating a simulation environment to analyze fluid dynamics and thermal behavior. The ideal candidate will have experience in fluid dynamics and thermal analysis, and be proficient in using OpenFOAM for CFD simulations. Scope of Work: 1. Import and clean provided 3D geometry. 2. Generate computational meshes suitable for indoor airflow simulations. 3. Develop OpenFOAM simulation workflows for: • Airflow distribution • Temperature distribution • Heat transfer • HVAC supply and return systems 4. Implement appropriate turbulence models (k-epsilon, k-omega SST, or equivalent). 5. Define boundary conditions based on supplied HVAC operating data. 6. Simulate multiple scenarios: • Existing HVAC configuration • Modified diffuser layouts • Alternative airflow rates • Energy-saving recommendations 7. Generate post-processing outputs: • Temperature contours • Velocity contours • Streamlines • Air age and ventilation effectiveness • Thermal comfort metrics 8. Develop methodology for importing measured sensor data and comparing simulation predictions against field measurements. Deliverables: • OpenFOAM project files • Meshing workflow • Boundary condition templates • Simulation reports • Visualization images and animations • Documentation describing workflow and assumptions Preferred Qualifications: • 3+ years OpenFOAM experience • HVAC or indoor airflow simulation experience • Building energy modeling experience • Experience with ParaView visualization
