CNC/CAM Specialist (Fusion 360) to Optimize Our Guitar Body & Neck Machining Workflow
Worldwide
We build electric guitars (bodies and necks) and machine them on CNC. We already have working 3D models in Autodesk Fusion 360 and have produced parts, so this is not a from-scratch project — we're looking for someone experienced to review and streamline how we go from model to finished cut. What we need help with: 1. A repeatable CAM workflow for when we UPDATE an existing 3D model — so small design changes don't force us to rebuild toolpaths from scratch. We want to understand what carries over, what needs re-checking, and how to keep setups/fixtures consistent. 2. A clear process for when we SWITCH to a completely new 3D model — how to set it up cleanly in Fusion, define stock/origin/setups, and generate reliable toolpaths efficiently. 3. Guidance on the machining process itself — recommended operation sequencing (what to cut first), roughing vs. finishing strategy, tooling, workholding/fixturing for bodies and necks, and how to reduce errors and cycle time. Ideal candidate: - Strong hands-on CNC machining experience (wood is a plus; we can discuss our machine and material) - Proficient in Fusion 360 CAM (CAM routing, toolpath generation, post-processing) - Able to document a process we can follow and reuse, not just do a one-off job To apply, please tell us: - Your experience with Fusion 360 CAM and CNC routing (examples or portfolio welcome) - Whether you've worked on guitars, instruments, or similar profiled wood parts - How you'd approach making a model-to-toolpath workflow repeatable - Your rate and availability We can share our current Fusion 360 files and walk you through our setup once we connect. Looking forward to working with the right person.
