CRO Expert for Premium E-Commerce Brand — Ongoing Retainer (Shopify)
Worldwide
About us We're a premium electric mobility brand (electric scooters and e-bikes) selling direct-to-consumer through Shopify across the US, Canada, and Australia. Our average order value is high — most orders are $1,000–2,500+ — so small improvements in conversion translate into meaningful revenue. We drive strong, efficient traffic through paid and organic, and our brand and product are well-regarded. Our gap is downstream: we convert less of that traffic than we should. We're looking for a CRO expert to own a testing roadmap and improve conversion on an ongoing basis — the same way we work with our SEO consultant. What we know about the problem (so you don't start from zero) We've surveyed thousands of shoppers. Our lost sales are overwhelmingly persuasion problems, not technical ones — checkout and site bugs barely register. The two biggest reasons people hesitate: "I wasn't sure it was worth the price." A value-communication gap on high-AOV products — financing, durability, and cost-vs-alternatives aren't landing hard enough. "I wasn't sure which model was right for me." A product-selection and comparison problem. Your first-quarter roadmap is essentially pre-written by that data: product-page value/financing messaging, and the model-comparison experience. We'll share the survey data with the right candidate. What you'll do Own a prioritized CRO roadmap — audit, hypotheses, test design, and a ranked backlog tied to revenue impact. Run structured A/B and multivariate tests (PDPs, collection pages, comparison flows, cart/checkout) and report results clearly. Write clear implementation briefs for our in-house developer, and QA what ships. Report against a single north-star metric — site conversion rate — plus supporting metrics (add-to-cart rate, checkout completion), in a monthly review. Bring a point of view. We don't want a tool operator; we want someone who diagnoses, prioritizes, and pushes. You're a fit if you have A track record improving conversion on Shopify stores, ideally high-AOV / considered-purchase products (not impulse/low-ticket). Fluency with experimentation tools and analytics (GA4, a testing platform of your choice, heatmaps/session recording). The ability to turn qualitative signal (survey data, session recordings) into testable hypotheses — not just run generic best-practice checklists. Strong written communication. You'll write briefs a developer implements, so precision matters. Comfort working async and owning a roadmap without being managed day-to-day. Nice to have Experience with financing/BNPL messaging, warranty/trust framing, or product-comparison UX. Multi-region store experience. How to apply Please don't send a generic pitch. Instead, include: Two or three CRO wins you've driven — the hypothesis, the test, and the result (with numbers). Shopify examples strongly preferred. One quick reaction to our problem above: given "not sure it's worth the price" is our #1 hesitation on a high-AOV product, what's the first test you'd run? A couple of sentences is enough — we want to see how you think, not a full audit. We read applications closely and reply to the ones that engage with the actual problem.
