Canadian Credit Risk & Underwriting Advisor (Alternative Lending / SMB Finance)

Greenbox Capital is seeking a subject matter expert to evaluate our current underwriting and credit processes and provide actionable recommendations based on industry best practices. The ideal freelancer will review existing workflows, identify gaps, and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and risk management. This is a short-term project for someone with strong analytical skills and experience in credit and underwriting operations. Project Objectives: Evaluate our current underwriting, credit, and closing processes Identify opportunities to improve risk management and operational efficiency Benchmark our approach against leading Canadian alternative lenders Provide recommendations regarding: Credit policy design Underwriting strategy Revenue verification methodologies KYC and fraud prevention controls Portfolio management practices Renewal strategies Second-position lending policies Risk segmentation and approval frameworks Required: Direct experience with a Canadian alternative lender, SMB lender, fintech lender, merchant cash advance provider, or commercial finance company and a strong understanding of Canadian lending practices and risk management frameworks Experience with organizations such as Merchant Growth, Journey Capital, CANCAP, Thinking Capital, Merchant Advance Capital, IOU Financial, or similar firms is highly preferred.
