Character designer + namer for a funny "anti-productivity" desktop gremlin
Worldwide
We're making a comedy desktop pet for Windows — a little character who lives at the bottom of your screen, wanders around, and heckles you for working. Think a crude, "drawn in MS Paint on purpose" cartoon with a ton of charm and buttery-smooth movement. The joke is the contrast: he looks like a dumb little scribble, but he moves beautifully and has a big personality. We need two things from you: a name for him, and his character design. Who he is: a lovable-loser gremlin of a guy. He's a cheerful nihilist — he's decided nothing matters, so why grind? He'd much rather you close the laptop and go rot on the couch with him. He's loud, opinionated, and annoying in a funny way, and he heckles you for being productive ("you're STILL working? none of this matters, come do nothing with me"). He's not sad and sleepy, and he's not a bossy villain — he's a washed-up little slacker who's weirdly at peace with being useless and wants to drag you down to his level. The comedy is that a pathetic little guy has enormous, confident opinions. The name: short, blunt, and fun to say out loud — a name that instantly makes you picture a specific pathetic-loser type of guy, not a description of one. It should feel like a character's name, and roll off the tongue with a bit of dumb, affectionate charm. Original, and yours to pitch (a couple of options is great). The character design: an original little guy — his face and body, plus a handful of expressions (grumpy, gloomy, smug, maybe crying). Crude and ugly-on-purpose, but executed so cleanly the crudeness reads as a deliberate style, not a mistake. He'll be animated later, so simple, clear shapes. One important heads-up: this replaces an earlier mascot we had to scrap because its name and look turned out to carry associations we never intended. So originality and a clean cultural read matter as much as the art itself. The name and character must be free of hidden slang or offensive meanings, must not be built on any existing meme-face template — please steer entirely clear of the wojak/soyjak/"-jak" family, we want an original character — and shouldn't clash with an existing game or brand. We'll run a final trademark check ourselves, but flag anything you're unsure about. Strong English and internet/meme-culture fluency really helps here, especially for the name. To apply, please share: a couple of characters or mascots you've designed, and one or two quick name directions you'd consider for this guy (a sentence each is plenty — we just want to see how your brain works). Fixed budget, and we'll agree milestones once we pick you. Here is the vibe that we are going for and the OLD design we had: https://www.chudmate.gg/
