Children’s Book Dragon Character Sheet — Full Copyright Transfer Required

Children’s Book Dragon Character Sheet — Full Copyright Transfer Required I am seeking an illustrator to create an original, human-drawn character design sheet for a children’s picture-book dragon named Pippin. Pippin is the main character in Book 2 of my children’s series, Tiny Dragons, Big Hearts: The Dragon Who Painted Dreams. This project is for the character sheet only. I do not currently need the artist to illustrate the full book. About the Character Pippin is a small, gentle dragon who paints colorful dreams into the night sky using magical fire. He is: • Quiet, thoughtful, sensitive, and imaginative • Shy at times, but warm and kind • Younger and smaller than many of the other dragons • Expressive enough for young children to understand his emotions • Visually distinct, memorable, and suitable for a recurring children’s-book series Pippin should look like he belongs in a whimsical, warm, professionally illustrated picture-book world. His magical fire creates soft trails of blue, gold, purple, and other glowing colors that form dreamlike pictures in the air. Visual Direction I am open to the artist’s creative recommendations, but Pippin should have: • A small, childlike dragon body • A soft and friendly face • Large expressive eyes • A distinctive silhouette • Features that are easy to reproduce consistently • A color palette that complements glowing blue, gold, purple, and rainbow dream trails • A design that works in sitting, standing, flying, painting, sad, thoughtful, and joyful poses He should not look frightening, overly realistic, or similar to an existing copyrighted dragon character. The design should be original and created from scratch. Character Sheet Requirements The final character sheet should include: • Front view • Side view • Back view • Three-quarter view • Sitting pose • Standing pose • Flying pose • Neutral expression • Happy expression • Sad or tearful expression • Worried expression • Thoughtful expression • Surprised expression • Hopeful or excited expression • Color palette with color values • Close-up details of the face, horns, wings, feet, tail, and markings • Notes showing proportions and important features that must remain consistent Please include one example of Pippin creating his colorful dream-fire trails. Style The desired style is: • Warm children’s picture-book illustration • Whimsical and magical • Soft, colorful, and expressive • Detailed enough to feel professional • Simple enough that the character can remain consistent across many illustrations • Appropriate for children approximately ages 4–8 I can provide examples from the first book so the new character feels like part of the same overall series. The new artwork must remain original and should not copy those images directly. Important: Human-Created Artwork This character sheet must be drawn by a human illustrator. Please disclose any use of generative AI before accepting the project. I am not seeking an AI-generated character sheet. Digital drawing software such as Procreate, Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, or Illustrator is acceptable. Files Required Please provide: • High-resolution PNG • Print-quality PDF • Layered source file, such as PSD, Procreate, AI, or equivalent • Transparent-background versions of the primary poses • At least 300 DPI • Full-color and clean line-art versions, when available Copyright and Ownership Full copyright ownership must be transferred to Shiloh Martin upon final payment. The agreement must state that: • The artwork is original. • The artist created the design and has the legal authority to transfer it. • All copyright and ownership rights are assigned to Shiloh Martin • Shiloh Martin may publish, edit, recolor, adapt, animate, redraw, merchandise, license, and create derivative works from the character. • The artwork may be used in books, advertising, websites, social media, merchandise, animation, educational materials, and future media. • I may use AI-assisted or other digital tools to pose, modify, or adapt the character after delivery. • The artist may not resell, license, reuse, or create a substantially similar version of Pippin for another client. • The artist may display the finished character sheet in a portfolio only with written permission. The contract should include the following provision: “The artwork is specially commissioned as a work made for hire to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the extent that any portion does not qualify as a work made for hire, the artist irrevocably assigns to Shiloh Martin all right, title, and interest in the artwork, including all copyrights and rights to create derivative works.” Revisions Please state: • How many initial concepts are included • How many revision rounds are included • The cost of additional revisions • Whether revisions include changes to colors, horns, wings, markings, facial features, and body proportions I would prefer to begin with two or three rough concept sketches before selecting the final design. When Responding Please include: • Examples of original children’s characters you have designed • Examples of character turnaround sheets • Confirmation that the artwork will be human-created • Confirmation that you agree to the copyright assignment • Confirmation that layered source files are included • Your total fixed price • Your estimated delivery schedule This may lead to additional character-sheet projects for the remaining books in a planned 12-book series. Each book will feature a different main dragon, but all dragons should feel as though they belong in the same story world.
