Children's Book AI Illustration Editor

I’m looking for a detail-oriented illustrator/image editor to help polish and refine a series of AI-generated illustrations for children’s books. The illustrations will already be mostly complete, so this is not a role where you’ll need to create every illustration from scratch. The main goal is to take the existing artwork and carefully correct AI-generated mistakes while making sure the character design, illustration style, colors, and overall visual treatment remain consistent throughout the entire book. What You’ll Be Doing You’ll review each illustration and make professional corrections where needed, including: * Fixing common AI mistakes such as extra or missing fingers, incorrect hands, distorted limbs, strange facial features, or malformed objects * Correcting small anatomy and proportion issues * Making sure recurring characters look consistent from page to page * Keeping hairstyles, facial features, skin tones, clothing, accessories, and other character details consistent * Correcting objects or background elements that were generated incorrectly * Cleaning up awkward lines, shapes, overlaps, or visual artifacts * Making small adjustments to composition when necessary * Ensuring the established children’s book illustration style stays consistent * Making sure edited areas blend naturally with the original artwork rather than looking noticeably retouched * Performing a final quality-control check so illustrations are polished and ready for use in a professionally produced children’s book Important The existing illustrations and reference images will establish the desired visual style. Maintaining that exact style is extremely important. I do not want the artwork completely redrawn or reinterpreted. The goal is to preserve what is already working while correcting inconsistencies and AI-generated errors. For example, if a character’s hand has six fingers, the hand should be corrected without changing the character’s overall pose or illustration style. If a character’s hairstyle looks slightly different from previous pages, it should be adjusted to match the established character reference. Ideal Candidate I’m looking for someone who: * Has strong Photoshop, Procreate, Illustrator, or similar image-editing/illustration skills * Has experience with digital illustration, preferably children’s book illustration * Has an excellent eye for small details * Understands character consistency and visual continuity * Can closely replicate an existing illustration style * Is comfortable editing and correcting AI-generated artwork * Can identify AI mistakes that may not immediately be obvious * Understands anatomy, especially hands, faces, and character proportions * Can make corrections without unnecessarily changing the original artwork Experience working with AI-generated illustrations is a big plus. There is potential for ongoing work, as I’m developing multiple illustrated children’s books and will need someone who can consistently provide a final human quality-control and editing pass before the artwork is ready for production.
