Children’s Comic Book Artist Needed - No AI

Children’s Comic Book Illustrator (Long-Term Opportunity) We’re looking for a talented illustrator/comic artist to help bring an original children’s comic universe to life. This project is for children ages 4–9 and could lead to a long-term collaboration on future comics, books, activity books, and animation projects. About the Project We’re creating 13 mini comics. Each mini comic consists of: * 12 pages * Front cover: 1 full-page illustration * Back cover: 1 full-page illustration * Inside: Approximately 18 comic panels (some pages are full-page illustrations) The comics should feel warm, adventurous, funny, magical, and expressive. Art Style We already have the characters and overall visual style established. We’re looking for an artist who can closely match an existing style while maintaining excellent character consistency. The overall feel is inspired by: * Classic 1990s / early 2000s cartoons * The expressive character acting of Dexter’s Laboratory * The warmth and storytelling of Calvin and Hobbes The final artwork should be hand-drawn, expressive, timeless, and full of personality. Current Status The first 4 mini comics have already been created using AI to establish the visual direction. You’ll receive: * Hand-drawn character sheets * AI-generated comic references * Comic scripts Your job is to recreate these first four comics as beautiful hand-drawn artwork while keeping the characters consistent. Once those are complete, we’ll provide scripts for the remaining 9 comics, and by then you’ll have a clear understanding of our style and vision. Deliverables: 13 mini comics For each comic: * Fully illustrated and coloured artwork * High-resolution files * Layered source files We’ll handle all dialogue, speech bubbles, sound effects, and final page layout. Ideal Candidate We’re looking for someone experienced in: * Children’s books * Comics * Character illustration * Visual storytelling * Maintaining consistent characters across multiple stories Strong facial expressions, humour, movement, and storytelling are more important than highly rendered realism. Budget Initial Budget: $500 USD This project has the potential to become a long-term position, as we’re building a children’s brand with many future illustration projects planned.
