# Civil Engineer Needed – Review of Residential Drainage & Grading Plans (Florida) I am looking for an experienced **Florida Civil Engineer** with expertise in **site grading, stormwater management, and residential drainage design** to provide an independent technical review of a neighboring property's approved civil plans. ## Project Background A new residence was recently constructed adjacent to our property in Palm Beach County, Florida. Since construction, we have experienced significant stormwater runoff entering the roadside swale and ultimately flooding the northeast corner of our property during heavy rain events. I have obtained the following documents: * Approved Drainage & Grading Plans * Existing Boundary/Topographic Survey * Civil Engineering Drainage Calculations I am **not looking for a legal opinion**. I am seeking an independent engineering evaluation of whether the approved drainage design appears to function as intended and whether the observed field conditions are consistent with the approved plans. ## Scope of Work Please review the attached plans and provide your professional opinion regarding the following: 1. Review the grading plan and explain the intended drainage strategy. 2. Identify the primary drainage basins and estimate the percentage of runoff directed toward each side of the property. 3. Explain how runoff from the north and east portions of the site is intended to reach the proposed compensating storage/dry detention area before being discharged to the roadside swale. 4. Review the proposed swales, berms, detention areas, and grading features and determine whether they appear sufficient to achieve the drainage objectives shown on the plans. 5. Determine whether the approved design appears to prevent uncontrolled runoff from leaving the property, as indicated in the grading notes. 6. Review the stormwater calculations and explain how the required compensating storage is intended to function. 7. Identify any questions, inconsistencies, or concerns that you believe warrant further investigation. 8. Recommend what field measurements or surveys should be performed to determine whether the project was constructed in accordance with the approved plans. ## Optional Additional Services Please provide separate pricing, if available, for: * Review of photographs and videos taken during rain events. * Review of an as-built topographic survey after it is completed. * Preparation of a written engineering opinion. * Preparation of a sealed engineering report, if necessary. ## Deliverables Requested Please provide: * Your estimated cost. * Estimated turnaround time. * A description of your relevant experience with Florida residential drainage and grading projects. * Whether you are licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Florida. * Whether you would be available for additional consulting if further investigation becomes necessary.
