Civil Engineer for Ranch Road Design

We are seeking a Civil Engineer to design roads/trails for a 720-acre ranch in Hawaii, USA. The project involves creating sustainable and environmentally friendly road designs that minimize environmental impact. The ideal candidate will have experience in road design and environmental sustainability. This includes both conceptual planning and practical implementation considerations for vehicle access roads, ranch roads, utility access routes, erosion control systems, and recreational trail networks in steep tropical terrain. The property includes mountainous terrain, ridge lines, valleys, and steep slopes where rainfall and erosion are major planning considerations. Long-term durability, proper water management, and minimal environmental impact are key priorities. Project scope Review and analyze topographic maps, drainage patterns, existing access routes, and slope conditions Develop conceptual and preliminary road/trail alignments Design or recommend: Road crowning and drainage systems Water diversion and runoff management Culverts, rolling dips, terraces, and swales Bench cuts and slope stabilization measures Erosion and sediment control solutions Evaluate access feasibility for vehicles, ranch operations, maintenance equipment, and recreational use Identify areas requiring special engineering consideration due to steep grades or water flow Help create phased implementation plans and rough cost estimates If your firm has experience with access road design, hillside grading, drainage engineering, permitting pathways, and erosion mitigation, please let me know your availability for an initial video call.
