Looking for a Colorado-licensed attorney to take on a tenant defense case in Adams County with strong retaliation evidence and a defendant in a corner. Absent securing a qualified licensed attorney, immediate support with handling motion responses as pro se party also needed, as well as additional pro se support. - 3 separate claims contain fee shifting language, so any assessment and review by potential contingency or retainer + contingency strongly recommended to reach out, but tenant has capacity to pay for attorney as well. Goal is to settle at a reasonable and fair number without being taken advantage of as a pro se tenant against 3 attorneys. Five-year tenancy at a Denver property - Landlord sent a series of escalating texts in late December 2025 — coercive ultimatum, implied threats, "see you in COURT" messages, demand for a $4,000 additional cash loan outside of the lease terms with a threat to evict if I did not "loan him the 4k", in writing, with 4-5 days to "decide", - then when tenant invoked their rights, attempted actual eviction ( followed through ), then threatened to enter the house during active litigation, all in writing, threatened to have "aggressive friend" deal with it, in writing, violated the meditation clause of the contract, - and seems to have attempted to sabotage the business from within, building alliances with our longest standing tenant, - neglected his duties for habitability leaving a broken garage door broken, forcing tenants to move large exterior trash cans through the living space to take out the trash, - attempted unilateral rent increase, engaged in bad faith negotiations through a 3rd party ( in writing ), complete with character attacks and by the book violations of literally every clause of the working definition of negotiating in good faith. Has hired a team of 3 lawyers to fight against a pro se tenant. Pro se tenant has already drafted an answer, several motions, opposing council has filed 2 motions to dismiss, 7 days remain to reply. - Immediate requirements: Support drafting the motion-answers ( drafts already done ), validating them against the facts, and engaging in meaningful negotiations. - Attorney in Denver preferred, but anyone licensed in CO would be fine. Experience with retaliation law on tenant side preferred, but any litigation support welcomed. - Licensed to practice law in CO would be preferential, but support by paralegals in the pro se approach until ongoing council is retained would be preferable. - Non-renewal notice served the day after refusing the coercive demands - Formal contestation letter sent March 30 putting the landlord on notice of the retaliation claim Landlord filed eviction April 22, AFTER receiving the contestation letter — which itself supports a bad-faith filing argument - Texts are preserved with timestamps, ready to authenticate - Landlord claims to be cash-strapped while showing tenant 500k+ in stock market holdings just months ago What I'm looking for in the absolute ideal: Colorado bar admission in good standing Real experience with tenant-side retaliation and habitability claims Comfortable filing affirmative defenses + counterclaims, not just a basic answer Familiar with pre-judgment attachment and judgment lien strategy in CO Engagement structure invitation If contingency attorney is available, its optimal, due to fee shifting laws this provides optimal up side Second to that, a retainer with contingency is optimal for the same reason Absent that, immediate support with motion responses is needed, ideally by a licensed CO attorney Absent that, immediate support from paralegals in evaluating and progressing the case, coaching the pro se tenant towards handling themselves with maturity and respect for the court is desired. Flat fee for: filing the answer with retaliation defense + counterclaim, appearing at the May 6 return date, basic mediation prep Contingency for: anything beyond mediation, including trial prep, trial, post-judgment collection, or structured settlement enforcement Open to your proposed split — looking for fair, not lowest What I need in your proposal: Just when your available to discuss or your thoughts on fee structure. The case file is comprehensive — full timeline, verbatim text quotes with timestamps, prior demand letters, statutory analysis already done. You'd be inheriting clean prep, not building from scratch. If your interested in the case please let me know.
