Summary

# We're Hiring: Comedy Writer for Our Consulting Team (Starting Small, Growing Fast) ## The Role You're not writing safety content. You're writing *clarity* for people who think in frameworks. We run a consulting division at a school safety company, built on the principle that resilience is built in valleys, not peaks. We help school leaders and safety teams think clearly about crisis preparation, operational protocols, reunification planning, and the human systems that hold institutions together. Our content is the engine of that clarity: newsletters, podcast scripts, webinar intros, and the occasional video thumbnail that makes people stop scrolling and actually listen. We need a comedy writer who can: 1. **Make serious things approachable without being flippant.** You understand the difference between a joke that lands and a joke that diminishes. You can write about complex operational frameworks and policy implementation and make someone actually *want* to read it—not because you're clowning, but because you're removing the fog. 2. **Own a voice and sustain it.** Our newsletter opens "Friend" and closes "In Strength." It's peer-to-peer, calm, strategic. One strong topic per issue. Data hooks in subject lines. Actionable implications, not hot takes. You'd immediately recognize our best-performing newsletter template: field experience → specific lesson → actionable implication → CTA. 3. **Write for a fast-growing audience.** We're talking to school administrators, security directors, and safety consultants. They're intelligent, overworked, and allergic to fluff. Your jokes land *because* they're earned—they come from understanding the audience's actual frustration, not from trying to be funny. 4. **Turn frameworks into narrative.** We work with complex operational and planning frameworks. These aren't acronyms to us, they're philosophy. You'd help translate that philosophy into writing that sticks. ## What You'd Actually Do (At the Start) **This is not a full-time role yet.** We're starting with 4–10 hours/week, focused on: - **Weekly newsletter scripting:** Short punchy intros, story hooks, CTA copy that converts - **Podcast script support:** We're launching an interview series alternating with Q&A format—you'd help structure episodes, write bumpers, craft questions - **Webinar/event copy:** Subject lines, email sequences, intro remarks - **Occasional social copy:** LinkedIn, email—short, conversational, built to drive membership signups You'd work closely with our Marketing Manager and have direct input from leadership on voice and strategy. ## Why This Could Grow If you're great at this—if your writing moves people from "I read the newsletter" to "I'm in to school safety consulting"—you'd expand into: - Content strategy input (we're evolving how we build the membership funnel) - Podcast production partnership (from writing to coordinating interviews) - Workshop/webinar content (live event scripts, audience engagement) - Potentially a fractional role that could become much bigger as LAMP scales The consulting division is the strategic center of our growth, and the writer who helps build that voice early gets to grow with it. ## The Actual Requirement **You must be good at humor.** Not "funny in general"—*strategically* funny. You understand that humor isn't a ornament; it's a tool to lower defenses and make people actually absorb something they'd normally skim. You've got a portfolio (blog posts, podcast scripts, emails, LinkedIn threads—whatever you write) that shows this. You can send one or two pieces and say, "Here's where I got the voice right and here's why it worked." ## The Easter Egg (And Why It Matters) If you are **Ava Daniels**, open your message with something that only Ava Daniels would say. Yes, it's a reference. Yes, if you get it, that tells us something important: you read the job post carefully, you understand that humor matters to us, and you know what makes you laugh. All three of those things predict whether you'd be great at this. If you're not Ava Daniels (most of you aren't), skip it. Just make sure your opening line in your application shows you understand what we're actually building here. ## What We're Looking For - **3+ years writing comedy, humor copy, or narrative-driven content** (blog, podcast, email, advertising—doesn't matter the venue) - **Portfolio showing strategic humor** (not just quips—jokes that serve a purpose) - **Ability to write in a calm, peer-to-peer voice** (NOT promotional, NOT hype-y, NOT fear-based) - **Baseline understanding of crisis management, school safety, or institutional operations** (or ability to learn very fast) - **Collaborative instinct** (you'll be working with Hayden, Chris, and the safety consultants; you'll take feedback and iterate) - **Time commitment available now** (8–10 hours/week to start; flexible schedule) ## Why This Matters School administrators and safety leaders are drowning in information and fear-mongering. Our job is to be the clear voice in the room—the one that helps them think straight about risk, preparation, and resilience. You'd be writing the voice that does that. Not the voice that panics them. The voice that clarifies. That's the long game. That's the role. --- **To Apply:** Send a brief note with 1–2 writing samples (whatever format best shows your humor + voice). Tell us why you're interested in safety/education/LAMP specifically. If you want to add a note about why you think humor works in this space, we're listening. **Questions?** Reach out directly—we're accessible. **Timeline:** We're rolling applications on a rolling basis and aiming to start by mid-August 2026.
