Summary

Commercial Data & Insights Analyst | Sales, Margins, Advertising & Growth HealthHQ is a growing New Zealand wellness company specialising in premium saunas, ice baths, chillers, heaters, and complete home and commercial recovery setups. We are looking for a commercially minded Data & Insights Analyst to help us make better, faster, more profitable decisions across the business. This is not a reporting-only role. We need someone who can analyse business data, identify what matters, uncover opportunities and risks, and turn the findings into practical recommendations for action. You will work closely with the founder and wider team to improve profitability, pricing, advertising performance, supplier decisions, product selection, sales conversion, and overall business performance. The Role You will analyse data across the business and provide clear commercial insights, recommendations, dashboards, KPIs, and action plans. Key responsibilities include: • Reviewing sales, product, customer, advertising, supplier, freight, and financial data. • Calculating and monitoring landed product margins, gross margins, net margins, and profitability by product, category, supplier, order, and customer type. • Reviewing landed costs, freight costs, duties, GST, assembly costs, delivery costs, discounts, payment fees, and other costs affecting profitability. • Identifying which products, packages, upsells, suppliers, and sales channels are most profitable. • Analysing advertising performance, including ROAS, CAC, lead cost, cost per enquiry, conversion rate, attribution, and return on marketing spend. • Reviewing sales pipeline performance, including enquiry-to-call rate, call-to-quote rate, quote-to-deposit rate, average order value, follow-up activity, and lost-sales reasons. • Analysing customer behaviour, buying patterns, product demand, seasonality, and potential cross-sell or upsell opportunities. • Reviewing supplier performance, cost changes, product quality trends, lead times, reliability, and margin impact. • Researching competitor pricing, market positioning, product inclusions, promotions, and opportunities for HealthHQ to differentiate. • Creating clear dashboards, scorecards, KPI trackers, and weekly or monthly commercial reports. • Identifying trends, gaps, inefficiencies, and commercial opportunities before they become major issues. • Recommending where we should increase investment, reduce costs, adjust pricing, improve conversion, change product ranges, renegotiate supplier terms, or improve advertising. • Helping establish measurable KPIs across sales, marketing, operations, customer success, supplier performance, and profitability. • Presenting findings in a practical, easy-to-understand way for a fast-moving business owner and team. What Success Looks Like Success in this role means: • We have accurate visibility over true landed costs and margins. • We know which products, suppliers, sales channels, and campaigns are genuinely profitable. • Pricing decisions are based on accurate commercial data rather than assumptions. • Advertising spend is tracked against meaningful revenue and profitability outcomes. • Sales conversion bottlenecks are identified and improved. • The business has clear KPIs and dashboards that show what needs attention. • Recommendations are practical, commercially sound, and lead to measurable improvements. • We make better decisions about product range, supplier selection, discounts, marketing spend, and growth priorities. • Important risks, margin erosion, cost increases, or underperforming areas are identified early. Who We Are Looking For You are likely someone with experience as a: • Commercial Data Analyst • Business Analyst • Financial Analyst • Revenue Analyst • Growth Analyst • E-commerce Analyst • Performance Marketing Analyst • Operations Analyst • Commercial Analyst You must be: • Highly analytical and commercially minded. • Comfortable working with imperfect, real-world business data and improving it over time. • Able to connect financial, operational, marketing, and sales data rather than analysing each area in isolation. • Strong with Excel or Google Sheets, including formulas, pivot tables, dashboards, data cleaning, and modelling. • Able to interpret profit and loss data, margins, landed costs, ROAS, CAC, conversion rates, and commercial KPIs. • Comfortable presenting findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders. • Focused on recommendations and action, not just reporting numbers. • Detail-focused, curious, and confident challenging assumptions where the data suggests a better approach. • Available to overlap meaningfully with New Zealand business hours. Preferred Experience Experience in one or more of the following would be an advantage: • E-commerce, retail, high-ticket products, home improvement, wellness, furniture, construction, or consumer products. • Shopify, Pipedrive, Monday.com, Xero, Google Ads, Meta Ads, Google Analytics, Looker Studio, Power BI, Tableau, or similar systems. • Product costing, inventory analysis, supplier analysis, freight or landed-cost modelling. • Paid advertising analysis and profitability reporting. • Pricing strategy, competitor research, sales funnel optimisation, or commercial forecasting. • Working directly with founders or small businesses where the data systems are still developing. Availability & Growth Opportunity • You must have clear, professional spoken and written English. • You must be available to work within New Zealand business hours, between 9:00am and 5:00pm NZ time, with meaningful overlap across the working day. • This role will begin on a part-time basis. • There is genuine potential for the role to increase toward full-time as performance, capability, trust, and business requirements develop. • We are looking for a long-term team member who can become a key commercial advisor as HealthHQ grows. Important We are not looking for someone who simply produces reports and sends spreadsheets. We need someone who can look at the numbers, understand what they mean for the business, identify where we are losing money or missing opportunities, and recommend what we should do next. You should be comfortable saying things such as: • “This product looks profitable, but the true landed margin is lower once freight and delivery are included.” • “This campaign is generating leads, but the leads are not converting into profitable sales.” • “We should increase spend here because this channel has better margin-adjusted returns.” • “We should review this supplier because their pricing, lead time, or quality is affecting profitability.” • “This product category has strong demand but needs a pricing or upsell adjustment.” • “This is the main point in the sales process where we are losing customers.” To Apply Please include: 1. A brief summary of your commercial, financial, data, e-commerce, or growth-analysis experience. 2. Examples of dashboards, reports, profitability models, pricing analysis, advertising analysis, or commercial recommendations you have created. 3. The tools you are confident using, including Excel, Google Sheets, Power BI, Looker Studio, Tableau, Shopify, Xero, Google Ads, Meta Ads, CRMs, or other relevant systems. 4. Your availability and time-zone overlap with New Zealand. 5. A short answer to this question: A business has strong revenue growth, but cash flow feels tight and the owner is unsure which products are actually making the most profit. What data would you request first, what would you analyse, and what recommendations would you aim to provide?
