Compliance Auditor (Licensing & Royalty Audit)
Worldwide
We are looking for a long-term Compliance Auditor to support royalty compliance audits for licensed products, including character, entertainment, and game-related licenses. This role involves reviewing licensing agreements, financial information, royalty reports, and supporting documents to determine whether royalties have been calculated correctly and whether business activities comply with licensing agreements. This is not a simple checklist-based role. You'll analyze multiple sources of information, identify inconsistencies, communicate with licensees, and organize facts to support compliance assessments. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Responsibilities ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ • Review licensing agreements (primarily in English, occasionally Japanese) • Communicate with audited companies to request supporting documents and clarify information • Compare accounting records with reported royalty data • Identify potential contract breaches and compliance issues • Prepare audit reports summarizing findings • Organize facts by comparing contracts, financial information, and information obtained through interviews ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ What We're Looking For ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ We're looking for someone with experience in some (not necessarily all) of the following: • Professional business communication skills in Japanese (email and meetings) • Additional languages such as English or Chinese are a plus • Experience using Excel for data analysis • Basic accounting knowledge or practical accounting/bookkeeping experience • Comfortable reading English contracts • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify inconsistencies and investigate their causes • Curious, detail-oriented, and able to organize complex information logically Previous audit experience is NOT required. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Working Style ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ • Remote position • Preferred availability: 100+ hours per month • Long-term collaboration (3+ years preferred) • Candidates who are available for approximately one week of on-site audits every 1–2 months (domestic or international) will be given preference. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ About the Role ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ This position is not based on following fixed procedures. You'll compare contract terms with financial data and information obtained from the audited company, identify discrepancies, determine what additional information is needed, and organize the facts to evaluate whether business activities are consistent with contractual obligations. The work requires careful judgment, strong analytical thinking, and professional communication. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Preferred Location ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ We are currently giving preference to candidates located in Asia and Oceania to better support collaboration across our team and clients. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Apply ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ If you don't meet every qualification but believe your background is relevant, we'd still love to hear from you.
