Concept Artist / Visual Development Artist for Symbolic Threshold

We are looking for a strong concept artist or visual development artist to create a rough visual direction for the hero area of an emerging conceptual technology project. This is not a Webflow development job, a standard UI/UX assignment, or a conventional landing-page redesign. We already have a restrained public-facing page structure. The missing piece is a stronger visual atmosphere, symbolic presence, and visual world. The desired feeling includes: * Dark, premium, and restrained * Ancient-future materiality * A controlled threshold or point of approach * A meaningful artifact, seal, boundary, or visual presence * The first public layer of something deeper * Mystery without becoming vague or decorative * Technological without generic neon cyberpunk * Monumental without becoming a fantasy-game poster * A sense that entry is approached, considered, and controlled The main public action is called **Request Entry**. It should feel like approaching a controlled threshold rather than completing an ordinary contact form. ## Paid proof-of-fit task Create one rough static hero or threshold visual concept. The purpose of this milestone is to test whether you can visually interpret the atmosphere and symbolic direction before moving into a larger concept phase. The concept should demonstrate: * Strong atmosphere * Clear visual focus * Symbolic weight * Controlled use of light and darkness * Deliberate negative space for a small amount of page copy * Restraint and withheld depth * A feeling of approach, boundary, and controlled access The concept may be created through digital painting, illustration, Blender, 2D/3D hybrid work, photobashing, or another artist-led process, provided all tools and third-party materials are disclosed. ## Deliverables * One rough landscape hero or threshold visual concept * One bounded refinement based on consolidated feedback * JPG or PNG presentation * A short explanation of the main visual decisions * Disclosure of all stock imagery, photography, 3D assets, brushes, photobashing, generative tools, or third-party materials used This is a rough visual-direction test, not a final polished production image. ## Generative AI boundary This proof-of-fit is intended to evaluate your own visual development, composition, and art-direction abilities. Generative AI must not be used to create, alter, extend, upscale, paint over, or finish the submitted concept unless prior written approval is provided. Any use of generative AI during private ideation or reference exploration must also be disclosed. You must clearly identify which parts of the submitted work you created personally. Project descriptions, screenshots, visual references, and confidential files must not be uploaded to external generative AI services or used for model training. Undisclosed AI-generated or AI-altered content may result in rejection of the milestone. ## Scope boundaries This milestone does not include: * Webflow development * Full website redesign * UI/UX design * Responsive page layouts * Animation * A full brand identity * Multiple polished concepts * A complete visual system ## Budget **USD $75 fixed** This is a tightly bound proof-of-fit milestone. A successful test may lead to a separate **USD $150–$250 visual-direction phase** covering two or three static visual directions. ## Confidentiality Only a limited, public-safe visual brief will be shared. Private system architecture, technical logic, internal terminology, and confidential project documentation are outside this assignment. All project information and visual material must remain confidential. The work may not be published, reused, sold, shared publicly, uploaded to portfolio platforms, or displayed in a portfolio without written permission. ## To apply Please begin your proposal with the word **Threshold**. Confirmation that you can complete the defined proof-of-fit for USD $75. 6. Confirmation that you will disclose all stock, photobash, 3D, generative AI, and third-party elements used. 7. Confirmation that you will not upload project material into generative AI tools. We are looking for someone who can create atmosphere, visual meaning, and symbolic presence—not someone whose main strength is arranging text inside a website layout.
