We Are Hiring: Concept Editor / Book Coach for German Non-Fiction Books & Guidebooks We are a modern publishing house working with inspiring experts, entrepreneurs, public figures, and professionals to develop, write, and successfully launch non-fiction books and guidebooks in the German-speaking market. To strengthen our team, we are looking for an experienced Concept Editor / Non-Fiction Editor / Book Coach for German-language book projects. You should be based in the German-speaking region or have a deep understanding of the German book market, and you must have native-level German skills. You will support our authors from the very first idea to the finished manuscript and help transform their knowledge, experience, and expertise into a clear, valuable, and marketable book. This role is not only about language and style. It is primarily about structure, positioning, target audience, narrative flow, reader guidance, and developing a strong book concept for the German-speaking market. Your Responsibilities: * You support experts and authors throughout the entire writing process. * You conduct conversations, interviews, and sparring sessions with authors to identify their knowledge, experiences, methods, and key messages. * You work with our team to develop strong concepts for German non-fiction books and guidebooks. * You help structure content in a logical, clear, and impactful way. * You identify which topics, chapters, examples, and perspectives are truly relevant for German-speaking readers. * You ensure that the book is not only professionally strong, but also has real market potential. * You help develop title ideas, chapter structures, target audience approaches, and strong market positioning. * You give authors orientation, motivation, and clear next steps throughout the writing process. What You Should Bring: * You have experience in non-fiction, guidebooks, editing, ghostwriting, publishing, journalism, book coaching, or author support. * You have native-level German skills and an excellent feeling for language, clarity, tone, and reader-friendly writing. * You understand the German-speaking book market and know how German readers think, search, and buy. * You can make complex content easy to understand, clear, and engaging for the target audience. * You have a strong understanding of target audiences, book market trends, and commercially relevant topics. * You know how a non-fiction book or guidebook needs to be structured in order to deliver real value to readers. * You are able to ask the right questions and extract strong content from conversations. * You work in a structured, reliable, and independent way. * You have a strong sense for language, dramaturgy, reading flow, and clear argumentation. Especially Valuable Would Be: * Experience with expert books, guidebooks, entrepreneur books, personal development, health, finance, career, leadership, mindset, or similar non-fiction topics. * Experience working with authors who do not want to write everything themselves or who need support structuring their thoughts. * A strong understanding of how to turn expertise into a marketable book product for the German-speaking market.
